Chris can you ask Knoche to give his thoughts on the weak ass OOC schedule in one of his articles?

Non-conference Strength of Schedule rankings according to KenPom since Turgeon's arrival:

2017-2018: 293

2016-2017: 188

2015-2016: 218

2014-2015: 258

2013-2014: 103

2012-2013: 344

2011-2012: 252

This is obviously an intentional strategy by Turgeon.  I'd like to hear his reasoning for it.  I think it's an embarrassment.

Had lunch with Chris recently.   He's on-board with wanting to see better OOC scheduling.

I really think the weak OOC hurts the development of the team as much as it hurts in tourney seeding.

MD is going to lose to Virginia just months after UMBC took them down.

Well, there's at least one team that ought to be decent for the non-con schedule. Turgeon can't duck-and-hide from everyone. Still, the way next season's schedule is shaping up I was expecting them to draw someone like Pitt or Wake Forest.

Small step forward in the perpetually laughable non-conference schedule.  Maybe we'll be top-200 in NCSOS this year!

I don't think Seton Hall will be very good this coming year but MD could certainly do worse than them in the scheduling dept.

I still feel like Turg is trying to manage his "challenges".

I think it is a step up, but still don't feel like Turgeon accepts the premise that a tough game(s) early on, make for a better team and finish.

Now we're talking. Loyola....and that's Loyola Chicago (with Sister Jean and all), not MD. And in Baltimore no less!

(you do have to scroll way down to find it, and there is little mention of it, apparently since it is not yet finalized)

If it happens it toughens the schedule some.

A game worth going to the Arena for.

Wish Turgeon wasn't such a wimp when it comes to non conference scheduling. This looks better than usual, but I bet it's still in the 200s.

Alex Flum

Cooley says he and Kevin Willard will talk about setting up a Maryland-Georgetown matchup. Says he’d like to set it up if it’s good for the area and works. Cooley and Willard coached against each other for about a decade in the Big East.
