We saw this for 2 months last year. Hes not this good offensively but hopefully the lows arent nearly as low this year.

He collapsed last year, probably because he was trying to show he could stay in the lineup and play through injuries.
That was a bad decision from him and the team.

Lacerations on his hand.
Sprained wrist.
Left oblique.

Had to factor.

Can he stay healthy?

Very solid player when healthy. Has yet to ever prove he can stay healthy and productive for a full season. Defense will play better in RF when Cowser comes up. Can’t count on him long term but enjoy it while we can.

Yeah, was just wondering how much of a switch to RF would help his defensive stats. It is true hes pulled himself out of being one of the worst LFs by metrics and OPACY LF has to be one where its tough to get the metrics to love you. Cowser's injury really hurt. Feels like any call up now is post AS break.

Along these lines and not to hijack Hays thread, Urias has been horrible at 3b by the metrics this year. Very good in his limited time at 2b. Maybe they just keep Urias for '24 and give him the 2b job.

Westburg has to be super close. Would fit the current construction of the roster much better than O’Hearn or Vavra. Cowser should be back this week I believe. Haskin too.

I just dont think they are gonna throw Westburg out into LF. Or anywhere on the Inf regularly. I still dont see how he gers ABs right now. Unless you commit to DHing him mostly. Im still in favor of OHearn getting most of the ABs for now vs righties. Let him prove he cant be a league avg bat. He gets about as much leash as Stowers and Vavra got to start the year. I think Vavra stays just because he can play everywhere in a pinch. He isnt the slowest guy. He can realistically put together a good AB and get a knock for you.

3B/DH against lefties with Urias at second base.

He's certainly deserving at this point, with only a week plus left to go before rosters are picked.  Would think he has a really good shot but I haven't looked to see exactly how deep OF is or if any lesser-deserving guys might be the only rep from their teams.  He's definitely been amongst the best 7 or 8 OF in the league so far.

He's second in AL OF OPS right now.  His run productions is a little soft for .882, but that's the odd thing about most of the Orioles...everyone is in the same run production area even though we have dramatically different views on the different guys..

Mullins isn't qualified now (PAs), but Santander is 9th just under .800.  That put all 3 of them in top10.  TEX has 2, BOS has 2.  The Orioles are the only team in MLB with all 3 OFers over .796 (can't say .800 today)

Will be a starting outfielder for the all-star game with injuries to Trout and Judge.

A great season so far for Hays.   Get healthy and match the second half.

Happy for Austin. Dude plays the game hard and is often sacrificing his body for it. He was well on his way last year before the minor injuries finally caught up to him.

Hays earned it,  I think he started to turn things on last year and got hit in the hand a couple of times and it killed hiss season.
