CBS Sports: Texas A&M has decided to fire coach Kevin Sumlin after LSU game

Another SEC job open.

Houston Chronicle: Texas A&M plans to fire Kevin Sumlin after LSU game

Sumlin has two years remaining on his contract that pays $5 million annually, and the two sides are expected to negotiate a buyout in the range of $10 million.

OUCH!

I think UCLA makes much more sense for Chip Kelly than Florida.  His offense will work a lot better in the Pac-12 than the SEC-just don't see him as a good fit at Florida.  Scott Frost is going to get paid, either by Florida or Nebraska.  He'd be silly not leaving Central Florida now-the only way they can go is down.  If Gruden doesn't go to Tennessee after playing footsie with them, it will be interesting to see what direction they ultimately go, since they will be already down to their third choice after Kelly and Gruden.

Kelly is apparently no longer being considered for the Florida job. Gators appear to be all-in at the moment on Scott Frost. The same person who said (to the USA Today) that Kelly is off Florida's list also said UCLA's Under Armour affiliation could be problematic for them, as Kelly has a good friendship with Phil Knight from his Oregon days.

ESPN: Arkansas fires AD Jeff Long; football coach Bret Bielema likely on shaky ground

Bielema should never have left Wisconsin.

Arkansas won by 1...against a 1 win Coastal Carolina team.

Beilema is a goner.

He never should have left Wisconsin.

It didn't go well... but I don't think that means Beilema never should have left.

He accomplished a lot at Wisconsin, and wanted a new challenge.  More power to him.

I'd love for MD to hire him, and give him whatever title was necessary to be part of Durkin's staff. He won with less at Wisconsin. While his systems are different vs. what Bell runs...  would hope he could get more out of all the highly touted members of MD's O-line.

He should have had more depth at this point then he did... but fwiw, Arkansas had a crazy amount of injuries this year.

ESPN: Riley lobbies for job as Nebraska finishes 4-8

"When I go to bed tonight, I'll be hoping for that, because I would love to do this," Riley said. "I truly believe I'm exactly the right person to do this.

Chris Fowler reporting that Scott Frost to Nebraska is all but official. They're probably waiting until after UCF's conference championship to announce.

Good grief. It's already out there so it's obviously going to be a major distraction. Just announce it, put the rumors and speculation to rest, and let the kids play with at least somewhat of a clearer vision of their future.

The Dan Mullen to Florida rumors are heating up. He was the OC when they won their last National Championship, so there's certainly familiarity there.

One of the announcers over the weekend brought up an interesting point with regard to how more schools have decided not to wait until the end of their season to announce firings, as well as moving much faster on hiring a replacement, and that is the early signing period. A new coach only has until Dec 20th to try and hold on to  verbal commitments rather than early February, so the sooner you get someone in there the better chance he has to sell his vision for the program to the kids that have pledged.
