And if he continued to hit as poorly as he was, he would have been cut.

But, he has started to hit better, so he has bought himself more time.  I thought he had until early to mid June to get himself together and he seemingly has.

I don't think cutting Alvarez was ever considered.

The Orioles made the decision when Fowler, got cold feet, that they were going all in with power.  Power is streaky, but Alvarez is proven.  he is still adjusting, to probably being a DH and a new league, but I think he will still hit over 25 bombs.  He is making 7 mill.  They were not backing out of that in 2 months.

Hell they kept Travis Snider until late August last year.

it wasn't considered at the time.

But it would be considered now if he continued to be as awful as he was.

Rob that's like saying jail would be considered for me as a punishment if I decided to go on a killing spree. No shit. If someone sucks that badly for long enough, they'll be cut. More #HedgeGuy stuff, not surprisingly.

.809 OPS

By the time this is over, I expect a lot of people who don't like him right now will end up liking him just fine...

I listened to his TV interview last night and he mentioned seeing pitchers  for the second time.

Alvarez has made the adjustment.  He will be productive in the second half.

He has already had a good 6 week run. Having a guy that's hit at-least 27 bomb's 3x batting 8th for you is pretty good.

This line up is a fucking nightmare for opposing pitchers.

Now we just need some starters of our own to complement it.

Agreed, feel the best is yet to come.  He has easy  power to left-center.  Alvarez is one strong guy.

.900ish OPS over the last two months. Just a platoon DH though. Still, glad we didn't cut bait after a tough start

Should never have even been a real consideration.

There was zero chance of that happening... maybe less than zero...

It wasn't, except maybe Shields mind.

Pretty sure Rob never said he should be cut. He said something like "if he continues to be a zero, we'll have to cut him in X weeks".

And they'll say, "Here's another rookie with hemorrhoids who never saw bright red in a toilet bowl before..."

A little bit of bright red blood in the pot goes a long way when it comes to scaring people half to death...

True, but shit is his niche.
