I can see how it might look like a bomb to anybody who knows little about the insides of a clock or electronics in general (or bombs, I guess).

But to go from taking precaution and figuring out what the hell it is that he had to "you're under arrest because we think you're 9/11" is ridiculous.  Just an abundance of stupidity, with probably some fear and hatred sprinkled in.  But mostly stupidity.

While I agree about the stupid factor being a key thing, I also think the fear-and-hatred quotient is much higher than you seem to... unless you think they would have treated a blond kid with a WASP-y name the same way...

That kid is *still* suspended from school...

He says he's not going back to that place... he doesn't know where he's going to school yet, but it won't be there...

Apparently he's got 1300 inventions so far... the JPL @ CalTech just invited him to come out there for an internship... I don''t think him finding a school is gonna be a big problem...

I cannot stand when the Jeopardy! round ends with clues still on the board. It's been happening a lot lately, and it means someone--contestants or crew--is doing it wrong.

I hate it when the contestants say the entire category name.  Like "I'll take 18th Century English Literature Written by Drunkards in Taverns While Wearing Pantaloons for $500, Alex."  Just say "English Literature for $500."

And then they'll do it for every single dollar amount in that category.

That must be a nervous tic. The crew actually coaches you to be quick--shorten the category name (while not just saying "$500"), don't just stare at the board when you get control, that kind of thing.

This is the first time I've ever read the word "pantaloons" on a message board...  good job!

Not counting bootcamp and going to schools that were considered permanent change of stations, I've moved 15 times in almost 16 years.  So about once a year.  Its forced me to keep very few things, which helps, but its still exhausting.  Lots of little stuff that you forget about, and it adds up.

I will say, this was the first time I've ever moved into an apartment and the last tenant left *some* TP behind.  Enough for the inevitable emergency deuce.

Been eating breakfast and walking more for 6 weeks. Not as much as I'd like, because carrying around all this weight all these years has had it's impact. My left foot has gotten sore quite a bit, but usually it's fine after ice. Well, haven't been able to walk for over a week now... went to a podiatrist today and now have a walking boot but regardless was ordered to stay off my feet for another 3 weeks. Only an ultra sound but he suspected a tear and is referring me to an Ortho now for an MRI. Fortunately my boss has been letting me work from home... but if it ends up requiring surgery this is going to blow. Fortunately I have a stationary bike so I can still get my cardio.

Damn man. Sorry to hear that. When you mentioned your foot was sore, the first thing I thought of was gout. Been there have that. Hope its nothing too serious.

Thanks Mike. It's brutal right now. Like a severe sprain... constantly in pain pretty much.

At least you can use the bike. My gout would always seem to flare up the week I decided to get off my ass and do something, start working out. Id get motivated and end up couch ridden for a week.

Yeah figured that out when I broke my right foot last summer. Makes things so awkward.

I mean unless you're sleeping or just sitting there, it impacts everything you do. Awkward is putting it lightly.

How'd you break it? Did you walk in a boot or have surgery? How long till the pain subsided? No ligament is different than bone breaks... but still curious as to what your experience was like.
