They can do whatever they want to do. I just don't see the point in doing it until they can remember. Otherwise you're going for yourself. But there's a big ass world out there. Just annoys me when people keep spending lots of money to keep going back to Disney. Even worse when they try to say Epcot allows them to do that.

I agree with your second point, but I take issue with your first.  I know people that go there multiple times and agree that they are missing out on doing and experiencing new things.  As far as the first point though, what about giving your kids great experiences in their childhood, sure they may not remember but seeing your kids happy and enjoying them selves is one of the best things about being a parent and a parent will remember and cherish that time.  Now having said that we are waiting a couple more years before going more so because I don't want to have to push a stroller or carry anyone or a big ass diaper bag for multiple hours in the day.

Or they can talk to my friends. They know all the ins and outs. Meal plans, character breakfasts, fast passes, makes my head spin.

Related to that I want to rant about the "itinerary" vacation.  It's okay to have a few things planned out or on your to do list, but I hate the idea of my whole vacation being planned out from start to finish.

Sure. You want to see your kids happy. Take them to Clark's Elioak farm. ;)
I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

"One thing kids like is to be tricked. For instance, I was going to take my nephew to Disneyland, but instead I drove him to an old burned-out warehouse. 'Oh no,' I said, 'Disneyland burned down.' "He cried and cried, but I think that deep down he thought it was a pretty good joke. 'I started to drive over to the real Disneyland, but it was getting pretty late."

We've got a field trip there in a couple weeks,  not to side track this thread even more but Gaver Farm in Frederick has a ton of stuff to do and check out.

Yup. That's where I get my Christmas tree. Looks like a lot of fun for kids.

Same,  we are looking at 2018 for our trip down there.

We were going to do this year, but my sister in law is getting married next month, and that's when we wanted to go. We here October is a great month, still warm enough to swim, not as crowded.

So we are thinking MAYBE 2016 but probably 2017.

Michael and I went to Disneyland for one day in the Summer and we were there for a total of 16 hours. I can't imagine bringing a child that whole time. I really enjoyed going but I could understand that you have a kid who doesn't understand why you have to wait in lines for so long at times, it could be a drag. Also, glad they banned selfie sticks. Next they should ban double wide strollers.

Disney World's Animal Kingdom is def worth going to, for the safari alone plus its just a really cool park with a handful of really top notch rides.

As a side...if you're looking to go on thrill rides, Disney is not the place to go. They do so many things so well but this is not one of them. I feel like this is common knowledge but then people complain about it anyway

Right.

There are hardly any rides, too!

There are plenty of rides, but not many thrill rides.

Plus, a strong number of their rides are basically the same ride with different characters.

I think I went when I was in 5th grade, and my brothers were in 3rd and kindergarten.

Any younger and I wouldn't have remembered much. I think that age range (probably another 2-4 years for my youngest brother) is when to go if you're taking kids.

I have no desire to go back as a young adult. If I'm paying for an amusement park (and they're frankly astronomical right now), I'd do Busch Gardens/Water Country (haven't been  in over 5 years), Hershey Park (same timeframe) or Kings Dominion (it's not the best but there's a ton of rides).

A lot of stuff for adults to do at Disney and there are some good places to eat.

But yea, it's way overpriced.

I went when I was 5 and when I was 12.  I remember thinking Space Mountain was the greatest thing ever when I went at 12.  I remember crying because the line to meet Donald Duck was too long when I went when I was 5.

I probably will never go again, but there are worse places to spend a week.

My son loves the Disney characters. He's 3 now so I think next year I'm going to take him down there. I can't wait to see his face.

We went once when my boys were 4 and 5 and my daughter was an infant.  Went the first week of December, great weather and very few crowds.  Boys had a blast.  Rode Star Tours about 20 times.  Ride it, leave, go straight through to the beginning of the ride again.  My 4-year old at the time did the Jedi Training Academy, to this day it's one of my favorite memories, I'd pay an obscene amount of money if anyone had a video of it.

Anyway, it was a terrific week.

My daughter just turned 4 and we were planning to go again this year because she's all into the princesses and everything.  But then we considered going to Hershey Park for 1 day, and I thought no way do I want to take this girl to Hershey Park for 1 day (much as I love her), so no chance she's ready for a full Disney trip yet.  So we'll delay for a few years and go when she's 6 or 7 or so.

But to Sean's point - I think it's a neat place and we had a terrific time there.  But I agree that I don't get people that go multiple times every year.

A guy who's been a good friend since 7th grade bought a damn timeshare at Disney World... so he can go every year... I just shake my head...

I went in the mid-70's... expected to hate it but I was wrong, I loved it... everybody who worked there was serious about making sure you had a great time... and they did, it was absolutely great... plus, they knew they had a captive audience and they didn't exploit that, they respected it... they didn't hose you, everything was either very fairly priced or else downright cheap...

I went back with grandkids a decade or so ago... expected to love it again, but I was wrong again, I hated it... never going back...

While the changes in vibe to Disney World were sad to see, the really serious crime is what they did to Epcot... Walt's idea was brilliant... when I went the 1st time, it was just getting started... but after he died, they changed it into a damn shopping mall with an expensive entry fee... most of the cool things were the same damn things they had in the 70's but just worn and tired looking... I bet Walt is spinning in his grave...

Plus, Disney uses 1-ply toilet paper in their bathrooms.  Pfffft, 1-ply?

I bet that's about to change....

I have Time Machine enabled and it hasn't backed up since January 2013, according to my restoration options.

EDIT: also I typically back up to the cloud before restarts and software installs. Letting the machine go to screensaver when I go to bed didn't seem like an issue. I didn't even touch it this morning when the screen went from off to white to Dist Util.
