ESPN: Wrigley to get $500M facelift

Looks like this is becoming a reality. I think one thing that separated Wrigley from the rest of the pack was the lack of video board. That's no longer going to be the case.

ESPN: Cubs may ponder Wrigley exit
http://espn.go.com/c...ge-not-approved
I need to get Wrigley before it isn't Wrigley so much anymore. I'm really disappointed they were away when I was there a few summers ago. Nonetheless, I went to to Wrigleyville and really enjoyed it, wasn't able to get to the stadium since they had some private function there that day -- my dad tried to talk his way into them letting us in, but he wasn't able to.
I like the fact that Wrigley remains the last dinasour so to speak in baseball as in without a videoboard. My biggest problem is going to be if the rooftop views are blocked, I think that's what makes Wrigley, Wrigley.
I tend to think this is a negotiating ploy. I can't see them really leaving Wrigley, but I'm sure it's not impossible.

The problem is that, even as the owners of those buildings will cry tradition, they are as much of a business enterprise as the Cubs or anything else in that city.
Just look at this: http://www.wrigleyrooftops.com/
While I love the fact that the neighborhood is so close to the park, I can't argue against the Cubs here.

I'm looking at more from a fans perspective, I don't blame the Cubs at all. They do have an agreement with the Rooftop owners and get a % of the profits, so likewise they have to stand their ground.

This was always my question.... were Epstein and Hoyer going to get the time they needed to bring their plan to fruition, or would they make sacrifices to their long-term plans, by making short-term sacrifices to pacify their fans?

Pedro Strop's first outing as a Cub:
Flyout by Lowrie
Groundout by Donaldson
Pop up from Cespedes.
A clean inning to start his Cub career.

Saw that, looked great. Not a lot of pressure pitching for a losing team...

"It's liftoff from here" - after selling on 2022

To be fair, they were only down 1-0, so were certainly still in the game.
I'd like to see him succeed, i'm not a hater.

I want to see him succeed too, for sure. Regardless of the score though... close games for a team whose games just don't matter is zero pressure compared to close games for a team hoping to win the division.

Fair enough.
If they trade Gregg, Pedro might get a shot to close. Should be interesting.

God, if he starts saving games and Johnson goes through another stretch...

I could see it working for him there... again, for someone like Strop, my best guess is where the team is in the standings is what makes all the difference. Just guessing on my part though.

I'm with you, still frustrating though, seeing our former players succeed. I'll feel the same way about Jake.

I know. I think you're probably right.
And for the record, my post wasn't referring to my opinion of the situation, just what I expect to hear around the area (and my reaction).
