Is Aldridge really worth a max contract at the age of 30?
To clarify..i think hes a max player today...but will he be one in 2-3 years?

This coverage of LMA is hilarious. They're literally acting like he's LeBron; following his moves, gauging his interest, mapping out his visitations, etc etc.
He's a fine player, but come on, is the NBA going to do this with every major FA from now on?

ESPN is all aboard the sensationalism train. It's obnoxious. But obviously their research show it works.
Where do you guys think he lands?

Its the biggest sports story now...and a subplot to it is how far the mighty Lakers have fallen.

2015 max dollars is a lot different than what 2016 max dollars is going to be. And he is the premier free agent this summer among those who are most eager to switch teams. Seller's market.

Right. See: LeBron-2010, Howard-2013, LeBron-2014. People eat this stuff up for whatever reason.

All true...but will he actually be worth that in a few years?
He might. Especially if he goes to the Spurs, where they do well with managing minutes of aging vets (assuming Pop is still around).

Slightly off topic....Becky Hammon will get to make NBA history with the Spurs again. She will be the head coach of SA's Summer League team in Las Vegas.

Diondre Jordan is going to Dallas...4/80.

After several years of whiffs, Dallas finally gets their man in free agency. If Matthews can fully recover from his torn Achilles (and that's no small if) then the Mavs' defense should be significantly improved this season.

As for the Clips, if they can make the cap numbers work, they might be the leading candidate for the Pacers to dump Hibbert.

@ramonashelburne
Los Angeles has been primed for the Clippers to cut into the Lakers market for last three years and they just haven't been able to do it

@ramonashelburne
First Sterling scandal, then "Game 6," then DeAndre leaving. Tough set of events for a franchise that's finally in good hands with Ballmer

As for DJ/CP3 dynamic. It's bad and it's been bad for three years when Celtics and Clippers got deep into trade talks on DJ-for-KG

A lot of teams that have trust issues, dysfunction, etc and do fine. The Clippers made it work for a while, but this exit exposes things

Trade nene to LAC
Better options available. I'd kick the tires on a Hibbert trade or S&T for Koufos first.
This might also mean Griffin will be leaned on more heavily for interior defense. While the eyeballs say he's obviously capable, some of the metrics aren't what you'd think for a guy with his ability and athleticism....probably because of Jordan's presence.

ESPN sources say Corey Brewer has spurned richer offer from Sacramento Kings to stay in Houston on a three-year deal in excess of $23 mil
First Matthews, now Brewer....even when outbidding the Kings can't get free agents. Say what you will about the Clippers, but I'd say the Kings have taken the mantle of most disastrous NBA franchise.

And the Kings finally get their man....Rondo, for 1-year/$9.5 million. He and Cousins could be a very interesting pair, in ways both good and bad.
