He's 28 years old with a career batting average of .213. Time to find a new career. Shoot he got farther than 95% of guys who play baseball. But he just isn't a ML player.

The BA is awful but still was almost an average hitter overall with the walk rate and power. The 2020 line of .193/.355/.455 is kind of amusing. Hard to make that work as a bad fielder though.

Agree with you that DJ is not an MLB player, but I'm gonna continue my quest to get everyone to stop quoting BA without any additional information.
There is a 28 y/o with a 205 BA still playing who is about to get a massive FA deal this offseason. BA doesn't tell enough of the picture to be worth mentioning by itself.

Ok fair enough. You are correct that BA alone can be misleading or at least not tell the whole picture.
How about we add: Career OPS+ 97. Career WAR 0.5, and he is terrible defensively (-11 runs saved above average).

Unclaimed, back to Norfolk (where there's also not really any place to play, much rather Neustrom and Stowers play daily, and even Diaz if he ever gets healthy).

Need 5 years of service for that (I don't think this was changed in new CBA).

Hit for the cycle today with the Mets. Now a 1.367 OPS this spring.
A) turned the corner, or
B) spring stats are pointless.
I go with B, but good for him.
