DJ has some value, but I think his days here may be numbered. He is not a good outfielder, and now with the bigger left field his liabilities become more pronounced and he is not a good enough hitter to stick as a DH.

I always liked the plate discipline. Aside from that, he's not good at anything. He's 28 to boot. This should be the point in his career that it comes together and he produces for a year or two before a quick slide out of baseball.
You could say that if he'd only get his BA up to .230 he'd get on-base at a .350+ clip which is solid.
But even that seems like too much to ask from him.
He's like Dean Kremer. He's not going to ever produce at an MLB level but you just have to keep going through the motions with him and hope that something eventually clicks even though it never will.

What a waste of a pick.
It's funny, because I remember how frustrated you were when DD selected him. At the time, I thought it was a good pick, because multiple mock drafts had him going to the O's with their first pick.
Good news! I saw a dog today.

Shocking slide had a hot take on the 25th pick in the MLB draft. There is zero chance he had ever heard of Stewart or anyone else still on the board at the time he was selected.

Only 10 of the 57 all-time #25 picks in MLB history have accrued more than 5 WAR for their entire careers. DJ currently has 0.5 WAR so, amazingly difficult as it is to believe, he is currently the 20th best #25 pick of all time.
Pretty low odds of finding even an average player with a late-1st round pick. Looking at a smaller, more recent sample of drafts, only 18 of the 125 guys taken between #23 and #27 from 1990 to 2014 have reached 5 WAR for their careers. 14 guys have reached 10. DJ certainly fits the bill as another in a long list of late 1st picks that didn't make it. I think I recall disliking the pick at the time as well. Definitely recall disliking the Sedlock pick the year after.

How dare you besmirch the name of the great Bobby Crosby!

I'll take Matt Hobgood, thanks. You can't ever have enough of those big, tall, strong hard-throwing righties!

He'll get opportunity somewhere.
Everyone doesn't fit. You have to make choices.
