Yeah, it's possible, but Simmons would likely have to swallow his pride for that to happen.

Agreed. But in order to stay with Grantland and 30 for 30, i'm not sure i wouldn't swallow my pride for that.

we'll see.

ESPN will still own intellectual properties like Grantland and the wildly popular podcast, the B.S. Report. One executive was even heard starting to plan who else might host the B.S. Report. Maybe the executive thinks that “B.S.” stands for something other than “Bill Simmons.”

Buck Showalter has to be near the top of their list.

Just flip the letters around, and "The SB Report" is born.

I'll be happy to do it

The Brian and Seth report. We can send old BSL NBA podcasts as a resume.

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

"Now OPS sucks.  Got it."

"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."

"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty

They might call that the BS Report for other reasons.

BNick and his vast NBA knowledge is clearly Lowe.

Doesn't matter where he goes, he simply won't have the same audience if he leaves ESPN. He may not care about that and he may make a shitload of money but the audience almost definitely goes down.

Probably. But the podcast should have similar downloads and the article shouldn't really be all that affected that way. TV almost certainly would be if goes down that route.

Simmons isn't that good with football or baseball. He can be somewhat entertaining talking about both, but not that knowledgeable.

It's funny that Rob likes this even though he's admitted he doesn't have much to base this belief off of.

Anyway, I disagree about football. He's not someone that solely focuses on football of course, but he's more knowledgeable than the vast majority of media type that doesn't focus on a single sport.

And Nickle, don't you listen to the Simmons/Sal guess the line pods?

That's gambling. He'd be able to talk reasonably well about Calvinball if there was a book offering props.

I think Simmons is terrific, but it's not really a listen I seek out for knowledge per se.

He knows his stuff for sure, but its usually very entertaining, and he's VERY well rounded. A lot of Pop Culture, music, 80s wrestling references. Stuff  that I enjoy.

Like I said earlier in the thread, the Boston stuff doesn't bother me..he always wanted to present himself as an "everyman", just a fan who got to do this for a living. i honestly wish more people did admit who they root for, or grew up rooting for. I like that.

With Twitter(and other social media), you are getting more of that especially off-the-air. Then you get the Scott Van Pelt's of the world who aren't afraid to add their touch -- some subtle, some less so -- when doing "their" teams highlights.

Does anyone think there's any chance they could end up working something out anyway?

My guess is that he has worked his last day at ESPN and it's just about the buyout and/or exit at this point.

Yeah, it's entertaining. Sal is a big part of the reason why too. Still, Simmons has some thoughts and makes some observations about football that are pretty bad.

On the plus side, I do appreciate the pop culture stuff he brings to the table. He has a way of making things fun despite not being overly knowledgeable.

I have heard enough of him on PTI and interviews to base it off of.

Now, it's been a while and maybe he has gotten better or he was just playing one of his schticks at this times.

Either way, for what I have heard, all he knows is Boston and not much else.

This is completely untrue. You should honestly give him a second chance if this is what you think.
