I certainly could be wrong, I just feel that positive recruiting is so much more effective than negative recruiting for teenagers.  I wouldn't be surprised to find out that negative recruiting happens much more infrequently than we think.  Because most kids don't care about negative recruiting, they're young and cocky and think they're going to go in and change the program by themselves.

So for me I just think it's one of those deals where a win is something you can point to but a loss doesn't hurt you much.

Agreed here... unless MD is completely embarrassed on the field, this game sets up as pretty much a no lose situation.

Whether MD wins or not doesn't matter.  What matters is whether they play OK.

If they play OK but lose, then they tell the recruit that he's the guy who would've made the difference between winning and losing.

Selling a trip to California (even though it's just Silicon Valley) for a bowl game helps. If they had been shipped to Detroit for that bowl, or another Military Bowl, that might work against them.

My buddy actually propositioned going to this game last night but I just can't swing it.  I already have a few trips planned for next year.

Why are you bringing that up? Was that the last time you were in SF, "having fun"?

LOL.

If it weren't for the fact that Pete is the one telling us they have no chance I'd be a inclined to believe we have no chance. But poor Pete is the same one telling us SD only had a 10% chance of beating Baltimore.

There is a good chance Stanford wins, but it's not like upsets have never happened.

And in bowls no less. If they win, I'm sure the Edsall haters will downplay it as such, "it happened in a glorified exhibition." And ftr, I'm not exactly pro-Edsall.

Tease that bitch down to -6 and you have a 99.99% guarantee of a winner. Stanford would have to lose their whole first string on both sides.

You would really be that shocked if MD wins outright?

Yes. This isn't Penn St or Michigan we are playing. Edsall vs Shaw. West Coast travel. They ended the season in impressive fashion unlike us. We are the biggest dog for a reason Chris.

Stanford isn't even ranked, but this would  easily be the most impressive win of Edsall's MD career. Probably the most impressive win of his career period.

Stanford is a talented team, with a great HC... playing at home. They should win. It wouldn't shock me at all if MD pulls the upset though.

Strange things often happen in bowl games. But in his 3 prior seasons, David Shaw's teams have always looked well-prepared in bowls. Like I said before, might want to hope for the distraction of him being tied to the 49ers or Raiders job. Might not help much, but couldn't hurt.

99.99% is 10,000 to 1 odds. I'll take that bet if you're offering.
