Don't really see an overslot pick early so any savings are probably intended for Day 3 overspends.

I guess we'll find out.  It feels like they set themselves up to grab a tougher HS sign or maybe a draft eligible sophomore from Virginia on Day 3.  Seems like they could put together 1.5-2M pretty easily with this group.

Not an Oriole signing, but we talked about Carter Johnson some.  Signed for 2.8M (Miami, 2-56, 1.6M slot) which was the value of the Orioles PPP (2.84M).  As already noted, O'Ferrall (1-32) signed for 2.7M.

Brody Brecht was discussed here a lot too, signed (Rox, 1-38) for 2.7M.

He was a sophomore so I guess some overslot makes sense.

$97,500 over slot. That should still leave us at about $440K in extra funds and we should pick up over 100K with our 10th rounder. The big question is how much Layton will be over in the 6th, if we pick any more savings on other top ten signings and how much we’ll have left to throw at Tess, George, and/or the 19th rounder.

Layton already said he was signing (per a OTV retweet), so if he's much overslot I guess they mostly agreed on a number.

Zero concerns about the Orioles getting everyone signed, my expectation is 21 of 21...

...but looking around the League, the CWS have already signed everyone minus the over-slot kid they drafted 20th.  No reflection on anything else, just noting one team moving out.  Some teams have no reported signings yet too.

Not counting 2020 how many times did the Orioles sign every pick?

2019 6 unsigned
2021 everyone signed
2022 4 unsigned
2023 3 unsigned

My expectation is that at least one of the HS players doesn’t sign but I’ll be pleasantly surprised if they ink every pick.

2019 was a 40 round draft and they signed their first 33 guys.  I guess we'll know soon enough.

Rodriguez is surprising, as a senior I expected more like Crowder.

The 11th round pick as well.  Doesn't matter since they didn't go over $150k, but 4-year senior drafted after the top-10 getting $150k seems strange to me.

They're about $500k underslot so far, plus the entire 75% overage tax.  I don't know who they're gonna spend it on.  Last year they spent the pool but none of the taxed range.  Two years ago they spent it all.

Don't seem like they drafted any big overslot guys late and a lot of their signings have been underslot. Is Honeycutt demanding a bigger bonus?

They drafted some JuCo guys in the later rounds, I know nothing about them but seems like the type of player with enough leverage to ask for a decent bonus.  Don't think there is an obvious huge bonus to give out like they did with Carter Young two years ago, but haven't read much on these guys so maybe a couple are worth spending all the savings to date on and into the taxable range.  We'll know in a week!
