Fanfest will be a bit sad, today. Taking my mom, she's a huge Earl fan.

Great read. I somehow had never heard this little nugget... this is gold:
When asked one time by Orioles outfielder Pat Kelly if he wanted to participate in team chapel and “walk with the lord,” Weaver famously replied: (“No thanks. I’d rather walk with the (bleeping) bases loaded.”

I was too young to ever get to experience Earl's teams. I've read a ton about him. He was a genius. I loved his rants. I love that Buck Showalter looks a lot like Earl Weaver. I love that his contributions to the organiztion are a HUGE part of why my dad was able to tell me so many great stories about the O's when he was growing up.
Sad, sad day.
This is me as well.
Earl's imprint on this team will be felt forever.

I know it's last minute but I hope the team does something to honor a great man.

I'm glad I got a chance to cheer for him. He was the greatest.

Roch tweeted that they are hanging his number above the main stage and I saw somewhere that uniform was being displayed.Way too young to remember him, but this does suck. I'm sure FanFest will have a little bit of a different feel than usual.

He made the manager an integral part of the game and the way he managed changed baseball.
RIP Earl.

And as much as it seemed like stuff like that didn't really interest Earl at all, the statue definitely did. He was very emotional talking about his statue. I know he loved that exprience.I said many times last year that it was great they were doing the Legends Series while they were all still alive (and well). Good thing they did it when they did. RIP Earl!
