Don't we have a guy like him already, in Quintin Berry? Except Berry walks.

He's under control for next year too.

Makes sense for giving up basically nothing. LHB with good speed and defense, adds a little more pop than Lough.

He's still been solid vs righties with a .279/.347/.410 line. He's been brutal vs lefties, though.De Aza has shown more pop in recent years than I realized. He slugged over .400 in both '12 and '13. The BA/OBP split was better than I thought too. Some speed.
Better move than I thought on the surface, though he's struggled this year.

De Aza is someone that was discussed before the season for that 'LHed OF bat" role.
They got him for nothing so that's reasonable and I'd guess WhiteSox weren't planning on tendering him ARB3.
I don't know how much upside there is, but it should be a more reliable LHed bat for LF....although, heck, Parades looks like an All-Star when the Orioles add him so maybe DeAza is about to blow up.
It's not the player I'd wanted, but it's a solid add. He adds value in September and October.

Kinda like what we thought LOUGH was gonna be really....maybe minus the power, but I really like De Aza...and we have him potentially for next year also...that's kinda like a.....a bonus.

I'd DFA Lough to make room.

Yup, the fact that hes under team control for next year is not to be overlooked. Maybe we decide to non tender since he'll make 5-6 mil but he looks like a solid strong side platoon LF for next year.

Wish it was Dunn.

Baltimore Orioles @Orioles 1m
OF Alejandro De Aza will report to the club today. To make room on the 25-man roster, LHP T.J. McFarland was optioned to Class-A Aberdeen.

Hope Buck rests Nick and Adam more as well.
I think this is key. Hopefully the Orioles pull way away so that they can can have some "Lough starts in CF, De Aza starts in left" games. I'd like to see Jones, Markakis and Cruz get a few much-needed days off.

He's under control for next year too.
And it's for less than 17M

....so I was searching around for something else and came across this thread from the offseason.

I'm just glad I didn't make a dumb trade recommendation in that thread
