Wow, that 15 second clip showed me everything I needed to see about the NBA.
That clip is comical but it's interesting how the NBA is the only sport people exclusively talk about it to trash it.

NBA is a better product than the NFL
Not even close. 2/3rds of the NBA teams basically exist to feed the desirable teams.

Sounds like the Wizards and Capitals are staying in DC.

The agreement between [Ted] Leonsis and [DC Mayor Muriel] Bowser includes provisions for:
- Monumental to receive $500 million in cash from the city to renovate Capital One Arena, which opened in 1997.
- $15 million more to improve the alley that connects the arena to the Gallery Place building next door.
- The addition of 200,000 square feet of space in the arena and the Gallery Place building.
- Safety improvements, including the presence of 17 Washington police officers to patrol the arena area from two hours before game time to two hours after game time
- Monumental gaining full control of the Entertainment & Sports Arena in Southeast Washington, enabling Monumental to enlarge player spaces and make changes to the arena’s schedule. The WNBA’s Washington Mystics and G League’s Capital City Go-Go will continue to play at the arena, but Monumental will have the ability to move four games per regular season and all playoff games to Capital One Arena.
- New restrictions on noise, loitering and vending around Capital One Arena.

Almost makes you wonder if he knew it was going to fail and this was his plan to scare DC into what he wanted from the start.
Dunno if I want to give him that much credit, but just interesting where it ended up.
Now the question is does it impact DC's ability to redo the RFK site for a new stadium?

I can't imagine he went through the whole process of cutting a deal with the governor while knowing for certain it would never pass the legislature. I think the governor was just as surprised as Leonsis that his deal was shot down.

In general I'd like to agree, but Ted has never been a dumb guy, so it strikes me odd and out of character that after complaining about the specific things he got in this agreement, Bowser coming out and saying she learned a lot and is now on the same page as the DC counsel, and working with Youngkin, who has a rep for being a moron, that he would be that shocked.
Just weird that this deal happened so quickly on the heels of it falling apart, like they've been working on it the whole time and knew VA wasn't set in stone. I've seen weirder stuff happen in politics. Use the public to communicate and manipulate.

I think this Front Office is seen as having a better plan.... will they cobble enough assets (and cash) together to gain relevance?
Who knows?
Obviously they aren't trying to win right now (and that's understandable), but the current product (2-17) is definitely a rough watch.
Would be good for them if they could get Jordan Poole and Kyle Kuzma moved for anything.
Seems like Alexandre Sarr, and Bilal Coulibaly are showing some positive signs.
Johnny Davis basically being a bust doesn't help.

Just have to wait until a few starts decide they want to play in DC. Like they did with Cleveland, Miami and Brooklyn.

I think a better path for them would be what the Knicks did until this past off-season.
Get a 2nd level 'star' and build depth with role players who play with energy, stay on the court, do the little things...
Keep accumulating draft picks, don't get tied into long-term deals with middling non difference making talent.

Checked into see that they're on pace to be one of the worst teams in NBA history. Yikes.
Hopefully they can win the draft lottery and end up with Cooper Flagg or Ace Bailey.
They need 1 more win to avoid matching the NBA's worst record ever. I have to that Verizon for dumping Monumental sports off the package I have. I could have added it for $11 a month, but the Wizards ineptitude is making me save money.

I haven't tried to watch a Wizards game in years, at least since they were on Comcast Sports Network.
They were semi entertaining when they had Arenas, Butler, Jamison then a couple of years with Wall, Beal, and Gortat.
Looks like there really isn't anything on the roster to get excited about currently.
I had a similar realization a couple months ago. Even further, they were so close in the Weber/Howard era, I think they got the wrong PG for that mix and it sent things backwards. Then there were periods where they had Rip Hamilton, Sheed, Ben Wallace and Stack, (who basically won a title with the same roster in DET) and Jordan and the failed period in there. Then trying to stack the backcourt and ignoring the front court with Wall and Beal.
I look at the current roster, even before the trades and it's hard to picture what the future is or what is going to work. I think they've got some decent complimentary pieces, but are lacking some big time star power. Getting lucky and landing Flagg to add to this would be nice, but I still don't think they have that one star they need.
Pau Gasol over Kwame Brown would have been a huge change for this franchise.
