I was somewhat pleased by all the offense, but whenever we had a chance to get a big hit, we had the wrong guy up. Betemit a couple times (he had his worst game of the year, IMO), and Andino another. Oh well, let's get 'em tomorrow. I'm excited to see Hammel go, but Morrow is coming off a beating against Texas. He has otherwise been fantastic this season. Interestingly, Morrow is 2-2 with a 4.36 ERA at home this season.

Losers of 7 of their last 9.

We'll see who this team is. DO they come back and start winning again or continue the slump?

The most aggravating thing about this game was Wilson Betemit hacking away at the first pitch from Janssen, who couldn't throw consecutive strikes to save his life.

Davis swung at a 1-0 pitchers pitch off the plate inside as well.

The things that we all noticed are starting to catch up with the O's a bit here.

1. The starting pitching is inconsistent at best and in general has been poor of late.

2. We could all see that the defense was shaky. Before we found ways to work around it. Not so much right now. Davis drop hurt us last night and the errors and misplayed balls hurt us again tonight.

3. Timely hitting. We know we have the HR ball in our arsenal. That is great. However, you saw us get multiple men on base in all of the 7th, 8th , and 9th innings tonight and the only time we cashed in was on, you guessed it,a HR by Adam Jones. I believe 5 of our 6 runs tonight were on the HR ball. Have to find a way to get some timely hitting and manufacture more runs.

Baltimore was swept out of Canada, as the Blue Jays beat the O's 4-1. With their 5th consecutive loss, the Orioles fall to 29-22 on the year.

The Good:

1) Hammel quickly worked through the Toronto lineup in the 1st. Hammel struck out Rasmus on a quality breaking ball in the 3rd. Hammel was able to get Davis to hit into a double play to end the 4th. Hammel gets credit from me for battling into the 7th, without his best stuff.

2) Moved up in the lineup, Davis earned a walk in the 1st.

3) Nice play from Chavez in the 1st.

4)Reynolds walked in the 2nd.

5) Betemit singled in the 2nd, and singled off Betemit in the 7th.

6) The O's went up 1-0 in the 2nd, on Flaherty's infield single.

7) Hardy singled into LF, leading off the 3rd.

8) Andino made a nice play to end the 5th.

9) Despite the walk to Cooper, Strop looked good in the 8th.

10) Jones walked to lead off the 9th. Nice job there getting on base, even though he could have swung there and attempted to extend his hitting streak.

The Bad:

1) Provided with a 1-0 lead going to the bottom of the 2nd; Hammel allowed a lead-off homer to Encarnacion. After going up and into Davis on the 1st pitch of the 3rd, Davis hit the 2nd pitch into the LF stands. Bautista walked with 2 out in the 3rd. Lawrie led off the 4th, with a blast to deep CF. Rasmus launched a 4th Jays HR in the 5th. Hammel would walk Bautista with 2 out in the 7th, ending his night. Not a horrible night for Hammel, but certainly not good.

2) Andino flied out with 2 on, and 1 out in the 2nd. For the night he was 0 for 3.

3) Jones hit into a double play to end the O's 3rd.

4) Vizquel stole 2nd in the 6th, when Hammel did not bother to look over.

5) Chavez was 0 for 4.

The Ugly:

1) Jones stayed in the game, but it looked bad when he was hit. Hopefully it does not swell up on him tomorrow.

2) Wieters extended struggles at the plate (0 for 4 tonight), are crushing the lineup.
