Hypothetically speaking, would you rather DCU win the MLS Championship then USMNT winning the World Cup?

Didn't know you were a Falcons or Avs fan.

You don't spend enough time in the cfb threads!

Ahh, good point.

I told Drew (9 year old) that we MUST try to get into Football more this season, and he picked Michigan as "our team". We'll see if it sticks.

You're turning Drew into a sports fan that Nickle won't approve of either. ;) But seriously, why not the Ravens and/or Terps if you guys want to watch more football?

Think about it, he's a UNC fan. Now that the Terps are moving to the B1G, he(his son) needs to pick a comparable enemy.

Well, I've seen DCU win 4 (and other trophies) already so I think I'd have to go with USMNT.  Winning the WC would be crazy.

Became a Falcons fan way back in the days of Deion and Andre Rison.  As a kid just loved their cockiness.  Still a team I'll check to see if they're winning/how they're doing in the standings.

Avs, started rooting for them back in the Sakic, Forsberg, Roy days.  They all just seemed like good dudes.  Like the Falcons will still check in to see if they're winning/how they're doing in the standings.

Not to go all Nickle on anyone here -- to each their own. I just have a hard time developing a rooting interest with a team or a school, I don't have a connection to or if I already have a team in that sport. Under the right set of circumstances, I'll pull for teams -- for example, when I get tickets to the NL WC game in 2007 (and for the rest of the postseason), I was definitely pulling for the Rox, but I can't say I was disappointed when they lost.

Fair point, but I tend to enjoy College Football a little more than the NFL in general, and we sort of already root for the Ravens, but don't have a true college football team to root for.

Historically Michigan is a great program, which might help.

As much as I joking about Nickle's fan rules, that's kinda weak. ;)

I don't really care. You're a Terps basketball fan after your UNC fandom, why not for football as well? True they don't have the tradition like Michigan or even like UMD basketball, but there's a stadium you can go to at a reasonable rate and closeby.

That's the type of attitude that leads to people being Duke fans without any legit reason for it. ;)

I hear ya, and he's actually been to a Maryland Football game and into the locker room (Family friend was the team manager the past 4 years), but he picked Michigan, what can I tell ya?

I'll watch the first Terps game and we'll go from there.

Fair?

This is tough:

The O's are tops.

Lakers and Terp BBall are basically dead even.

Ravens

Wizards

Terp Football

Caps

Then a bunch of ancillary teams that I "root" for, as in when they're playing on TV or in the playoffs I'll cheer for but hardly follow:  Red Wings, Notre Dame Football, UCLA Basketball, Alabama Football, Dodgers....

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

"Now OPS sucks.  Got it."

"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."

"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty
