Piggybacking off Weber's thread, rank'em. In terms of college sports, if you have a preference between football/basketball(or another sport), feel free to state it,

Tier 1

1)Orioles

2)Buffs

Tier 2

3a)Ravens

3b)Terps

Tier 3

4a)Wizards

4b)Caps

Tier 4

US National teams in hockey/soccer, other sports as well. Slight preference in hockey to soccer. Despite my opposition for the name, I pull for the Redskins when they aren't playing the Ravens.

1. Terps football

2. Terps basketball

3. Orioles

4. Ravens

5. Tennessee Vols football

#1 and #2 are very close, as are #3 and #4. I started following the Vols a few years ago, and have really enjoyed having an SEC football team to root for. I'm also planning on following Everton in EPL soccer starting this season.

I knew #1 for you, but I thought the O's would be #2, Ravens #3, and Terps bball #4. Know you're a Vols fan, so not surprised to see them #5.

This I did not know.

Going on about 5 years now. One of my best friend's is an Auburn guy. Our group of friends, about 7-10 of us over his house every Saturday, have adopted Auburn as a secondary rooting interest for College FB.

My heart is still with the Terps... but dammit if I haven't had a ton of fun the past few years rooting on the Tigers.

The first couple years I watched Auburn with my buddy (until the other friends arrived in the fold), they were pretty bad. Couldn't find a QB, had no chance vs. Bama, etc. But I still jumped on board because of how passionate he was about Auburn. The whole War Eagle stuff, the fight songs, his bird named Auby. I love passion like that.

Man, once Cam accepted Auburn's highest bid... err, came to Auburn... it's been a heck of a ride the past few years.

Ahh, good point.

I told Drew (9 year old) that we MUST try to get into Football more this season, and he picked Michigan as "our team". We'll see if it sticks.

That's awesome. They're usually good. I dont' get to into College Football, besides gambling lines, until the bowl games, and they're pretty much always in a good bowl.

Oh there's no way that's Nickle approved.

And honestly, I really root hard for them... but you can't fake truly loving your team. They'll never have the same place as all my local teams.

That's awesome. I don't really have a back-story to my love of Tennessee. Like you, I started following the Vols when they were just coming out of their prime (after Kiffin left). I followed lightly until Dooley's final year, when I followed a lot more closely. They started off so strong that year, ranked #23 in their game vs. Florida. But I really like Butch Jones, and watching them almost beat Georgia and then beat South Carolina was awesome.

I love "Rocky Top", and Neyland Stadium is one of the classics. Once I can afford to do it, I want to go to a Tennessee-Florida game in Neyland. I'm tentatively saying 3 years from now, when they'll be in Knoxville. Like you, I love the Terps. And the Big Ten is an awesome college football conference. But there's just no matching the intensity and level of play in the SEC.
