So here it is almost mid-April and we're looking at temps in the 60's. With the winter we had this year, and the rain and cold weather we've had so far this spring, I wonder what effect if any it will have on OC water temps this year. I guess after a month of 90 degrees it will erase all that but I am thinking the water temps in OC this Memorial Day will be in the 50's.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

Weather Channel Returning to DirecTV, Apologizes for Ugly Fight

WeatherNation Will Remain on DirecTV Alongside The Weather Channel

So not only did TWC lose the war with DirecTV, leading to, you know, more actual WEATHER programming, but they get competition on that provider. Both likely will be good for the viewers.

Nice weather in mid/early-April means summer/spring dresses and, rather, revealing bathing suits at the pool and beach.  Uh, yes please.

http://www.weather.com/thankyou.html

The Weather Channel is offering a "small token of our appreciation" for helping get them back on DirecTV. You can choose other providers, though, so I signed up to see what we get.

Glad to be far, far away from the Gulf Coast, even with the rain we're getting.

Pensacola has received 20+ inches of rain with more coming down, and Mobile received three inches of rain in 25 minutes Monday night.

90+ degrees, 40 mph sustained winds, 70-80 mph gusts.

And with all that, some people are still trying to play a round of golf?

The way a lot of folks play, their results may yet improve.

Plenty of water on (though usually not over) the roads today. Thus, I get to enjoy splashing copious amounts of water on the roadsides. SPLOOSH!!!

I mean I'm sitting here watching these goobers try to play and I can only imagine them thinking "This must be what it's like at St. Andrews.  This is so cool."

Not to mention this isn't the best day to be outside for 4-6 hours breathing in the air, what with a huge fire burning right up the freaking road.

In the summer time it can definitely feel like it.  Only supposed to get up to 100 tomorrow.  Can't wait for July/August/September.

Sooooo need to move down near SD or up north near SF.

Frustrating Bureaucracy Leads to Ridiculous Tornado Forecast

The fact that the rotating thunderstorm crossed between the Wilmington and Charleston areas of responsibility caused the incongruity. The forecaster responsible for issuing warnings at the Wilmington, Ohio this afternoon thought that the rotation in the thunderstorm was enough of a threat to issue a tornado warning, while the forecaster in charge of warnings in Charleston, West Virginia disagreed.

Rare Heat Burst Causes Temps to Soar to 95° at Night in Kansas Town

A rare event known as a "heat burst" caused temperatures in Russell, Kansas last night to soar from 85° to 93° in less than an hour. To the east, Salina hit 95° at 1:00 AM. These phenomena usually occur in unpopulated areas, so not many people have heard of them. So, what is a heat burst, anyway?

I've never heard of that before. Crazy.

Apparently there is a "July Polar Vortex" returning next week. Weather.com has the high for next Weds at barely 80 degrees. As someone who loathes oppressive heat and will be on the West Coast at the end of the month this is...sweet.

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."

"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty
