I was thinking he'd do 3 more years and retire at age 65...glad to get another 2 years on top of that.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

The 10 years in 10 minutes or less special they're running now is absolutely fantastic.

Yep.

Been some good ones for sure.

The one where Sal "accidentally" slapped his balls against Richards mouth is hilarious.

I forgot about the Amy Fisher porn and that creepy husband, Lou. Howard said he sounded like Elmer Fudd. It was awesome.

I've been enjoying it a lot too. They should do the same format for the older shows too. I usually don't care for the older Stern stuff but at the min or less it would be much more manageable.

Supposedly, Riley Martin died.

Hope it's b.s. If not, R.I.P.

At times he barely sounded alive so it wouldn't be a shock if he did in deed die.

The Stern world has lost a lot of characters lately.

Did the memorial show this morning, said the family wanted it kept private until today.

He wasn't my favorite wack packer but he did provide lots of great material for the show.

RIP.

I heard it this morning. Lots of Stern Show regulars have been passing away lately.

With Howard on spring break I've been listening to old clips on YouTube...from the golden area...2007-2010. Mostly the Artie years. So much happened during that time...so many fights (usually involving Artie) and Sal's wife's emotional friend.

The show is still very good, occasionally great, but it will never be as good as it was back then in the beginning of the Sirius years.

I was going to post the same thing but couldn't find this thread on my phone.

Artie on Opie last week...

Few thoughts / takeaways...

- Artie as always, extremely self-deprecating...

- Still very kind words for Howard...  for his talent, what he meant to him...   saying Howard went above and beyond as a friend and employer to help him...

- Saying after the suicide attempt, their next contact (despite Artie's attempts) was 2 years later when they both happened to be visiting Robin in the hospital...

- That he attempted 3 times after that to reach Howard, but calls not returned... and Artie decided he would not bother him further.

- Artie didn't want the job back... simply wanted 10 minutes to thank Howard, apologize, and have some closure.

- Artie did criticize the current tenor of the show... feels Howard is now too reluctant to criticize stars... which seems partly true, but people do change...

- Artie harshly criticized Marci Tuck... who now effectively runs the show... with those criticisms clearly coming from Stern staffers who were using Artie as the mouth piece.

With that as background, some updates today...

Howard has explained why he hasn't talked to Artie.

Howard certainly could have been talking about him with the Benjy thing but they definitely referenced Jackie multiple times.

Yeah, I thought it was Jackie, but could also be Artie too. Howard has always said kind things about Artie on air. I understand Artie wanting some closure with Howard and I don't know why he wouldn't meet with him, but Howard may also still feel burned by him for what he said a few years ago when Stuttering John did his show.
