Anyone know of some good pizza places in Montgomery County (preferably Up County)?... I've checked out all the Germantown places, and they're all meh.

None that I can think of near Germantown and I lived closeby for most of my life. Mia's in Bethesda is decent. I like the Pete's Apizza local chain.

LOL, pretty much.

In semi-related news, I could recommend some great Thai food in the area! ;)

My work takes me to Bethesda from time-to-time, so I'll have to check it out at some point.

I had it maybe two years ago. I thought it was good, probably wouldn't go out of my way for it.

Pizzeria de Marco in Bethesda is great DOP style pizza.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

Call me crazy, but for my money, it doesn't get much better than Ledo's. Love their pizza.

Went to Chicago over the summer and had some real Chicago-style stuffed pizza at Giordano's. It was delicious.

If any of you come to South Pasadena in SoCal before I make my exit let me know and I'll take you for authentic Italian pie at settebello. The neighborhood place for a pie is Nonna's. They make a a great spinach, mushroom and garlic calzone, too.

I hate Ledo's but like their pastas.

Went to Giordano's when I was in Chicago, that was great.

Ledo's has a unique taste, and while I don't always want their pizza when I go, I do think it's pretty good.

Giordino's in Chicago was very good.

Deep dish is overrated IMO and I have been to a couple of the legendary places in Chicago.

Back to the crust...Papa Johns is generally fine for franchise pizza, but their crust is awful. It's no wonder they give you the garlic sauce to dip in it. I will admit that does mostly salvage it too.

Anyone ever try to make stuffed-crust at home? I can never seem to get the cheese sealed in quite right.

Stuffing the crust is a sign that the crust sucks. IMO

I'm starting to come around to BNick's opinion of you.

Haha. But just like with the garlic sauce or any dipping sauce for crust, while the stuffed crust may make it pretty tasty, it's only a move made with mediocre or worse crust IMO.

Ledos is worse than generic frozen pizza. Seriously.

No gimmicks needed for really good pizza, like stuffed crust or dipping sauce. You see why the light beers have those gimmicks...blue mountains, vented cap, vortex bottle...all to take away from shitty product.
