I love the Olympics. Hope they can be held. I actually prefer the Winter Olympics, but summer is great as well.

Fans may be limited if any at all, but there's too much money involved for them to scrap this. I think it happens.

So Summer Olympics, then we get the Winter next January, and then a World Cup next year!

CBS Sports: Tokyo Olympics 2021: Japan announces state of emergency in Tokyo less than three months before Games start

Tokyo says no spectators outside of Japan for the Olympics. Makes sense I guess.
More of a head scratcher, the IOC won't make the vaccine mandatory for athletes

This is from a recent Sally Jenkins column. Diverting 10,000 medical workers during a pandemic doesn't sounds like a very smart idea.
The answer is that the IOC derives its power strictly from the Olympic “host contract.” It’s a highly illuminating document that reveals much about the highhanded organization and how it leaves host nations with crippling debts. Seven pages are devoted to “medical services” the host must provide — free of charge — to anyone with an Olympic credential, including rooms at local hospitals expressly reserved for them and only them. Tokyo organizers have estimated they will need to divert about 10,000 medical workers to service the IOC’s demands.

Many living in Japan want them to scrap the Olympics. I would be very surprised if that happens at this point.

So, we're less than a week out and....I don't care about the Olympics, for many reasons. Those include the frantic sports calendar over the last year, the minimal amount of established US stars, the start times of most events, and (of course) the pandemic.
Where's your hype level at? I've never been the biggest Olympics guy, but I typically have enjoyed the track and swimming. I doubt I'll go out of my way this year.
And hey, we get to do allllll this again in six months with the Winter games, with the added bonus of a potential boycott. Always fun!

I honestly think the baseball is gonna be kinda fun to watch. It's not the WBC but it's kinda neat to see a bunch of random guys who are basically retired get a chance at a gold medal. Jose Bautista is on the DR, Ian Kinsler is on Israel, Adrian Gonzalez is on Mexico, etc. Plus Orioles legend Hyun Soo Kim is on South Korea.

Waiting for curling and the winter sports.
