Totally agree... this should be a real game-changer. I'm so excited... and believe that we need a new, dynamic head coach to put the finishing touch on this remarkable endeavor.
These things don't just come in handy when recruiting players. Coaches that may not have had much interest in UM might suddenly want to listen. Not only does it make their job of recruiting and training players easier, but it shows them that the university and administration is serious about wanting to give them the resources to succeed.
And with the medicine/performance/entrepreneurial component, it will have the same impact on recruiting the best students and faculty. A lot of people decry this sort of money being spent on lavish buildings....not just for college sports, but universities as a whole. And they make some fair points as to why it ideally shouldn't be that way. But in the end, it is what it is, and you can either join the race or watch everyone else blow by you.

I still think they should disassemble Cole and rebuild it in a place that needs a real arena. Like Baltimore.

As usual, I agree across the board.

Wall Street Journal (via Testudo Times): Study estimates Maryland football program worth $105 million
To compile the numbers, [the study] analyzed each program’s revenues and expenses and made cash-flow adjustments, risk assessments and growth projections for each school. The resulting figures represent what the teams might fetch if they could be bought and sold on the open market like professional teams.
MD was #56 overall in FBS, #13 in Big Ten in intrinsic valuation. Perhaps coincidentally, they also were #56 in FBS in revenues generated at $35.5 million. Ohio State was #1 in the country in valuation ($1.1 Billion) and Texas was #1 in revenues ($129 million).

Shared via Testudo Times....gotta say, that photo is kind of tough to look at, as someone who cheered for a lot of teams that played in that building.

At least it's indoors and not showing the roof half-torn down

Coming together really well. That glass will also serve as a video board, and when the team runs underneath Fieldhouse Drive and into the stadium, there will be video and graphics shown on the back of Cole there.
Sounds like everything is on time, and the team will be able to start practicing inside once summer practice starts this year.
