Loved the concept.....until I saw the photo of the tube next to the Golden Gate Bridge. That just looks and seems wrong....not to mention too short for many ships to pass under.

I don't think that's a real part of the plan. I mean, anyone who's ever seen a disaster movie involving San Francisco knows that you never build anything next to the Golden Gate Bridge, because that's going to be the first thing to go.

The Wired article is correct... but I wouldn't bet against Musk.  He has grand visions, and he finds ways to get things done.

It's really not even fathomable at this point, in how transformational this would be.

But don't they need a chamber by which to achieve mega-suck?   It's all gotta be within the bored tube...

I don't think this is supposed to be a tunnel for hyperloop. I believe his idea with this one is the sleds that you drive on in your car, get lowered into the tunnel by elevator, then back up once you get to the destination. You still need ventilation down there though, so maybe the duct stays....it just seems to take up a lot more space than I would think you'd want/need.
