Totally missed Elton Brand being named GM.

I guess 4 firsts weren’t really on the table?

I think it's more that 4 firsts don't do much for Thibs.

Great point.

But this doesn’t do a lot for him either..at least in terms of serious contention. But if you can win 50ish games, be the 5th or 6th seed, I guess job security is there?

They got 2 good players back, but with the hole they've already dug for themselves and the depth of the West, it's going to be hard for them to make the playoffs.

Meanwhile, the East doesn't have good depth, but the top 4 is really good.

Yea, its a toss up there.

Outside of GS, who are you DEFINITELY taking in the west over any of those 4?

Considering how Houston is playing, no one.

Except I see very little chance they do that. Even if you want to say Memphis, Sacramento and the Clippers aren't really that good and will fade (and other than maybe the Clippers I think they will) Minnesota still has to get past Houston, LAL, New Orleans and Utah just to get up to #8. It's obviously very early, so there's plenty of time for things to change, but the landscape really doesn't look good from where they sit right now.

I stated earlier and agree that four 1st Round picks over seven years does nothing for Thibodeau. But if that offer really was on the table, I'm surprised Taylor didn't step in and pull the trigger.

I like the trade for Philly though. The final grade will ultimately come down to whether they can extend Butler, but I think it's a good gamble, even for the two pretty good players they gave up.

I would have preferred to keep Covington instead of Fultz, if possible.

If GS breaks up, does this trade allow Minnesota to be one of the legit west contenders next year and beyond?

I have to think this is part of the thinking.

Amin Elhassan is on Golic and Wingo this morning talking about how they had SEVERAL deals better than the one Philly gave them but that Thibs kept telling teams he wanted more and a lot of teams didn’t feel he was negotiating in good faith.

They ended up backing themselves into a corner and had to take this deal.

Agent Raymond Brothers: “Markelle (Fultz) has been diagnosed with Neurogenic Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, (TOS), a physical injury. TOS affects nerves between the neck and shoulder resulting in abnormal functional movement and range of motion, thus severely shoot a basketball...”

@Sam_Vecenie 2m2 minutes ago

A big part of why Fultz went No. 1 was his ability to functionally pull-up all over the floor and be a shot-maker. I don’t even know how to react to something like this in regard to Fultz’s future other than to say I hope him the best.
