Why the 76ers claimed Thomas Robinson off waivers
Robinson’s $3,678,360 salary lifts them above the salary floor. However, because the Trail Blazers and Nuggets (but mostly the Trail Blazers) have already paid most of Robinson’s salary this season, Philadelphia is required to pay Robinson just the remaining $1,103,508 he’s owed.
So, instead of paying their players $3,023,771 for failing to meet the salary floor, the 76ers will pay Robinson just $1,103,508. It’s a savings of $1,920,263.

WaPo: 76ers owner apologizes to kids for landing his helicopter on their soccer field
Josh Harris, the owner of the Philadelphia 76ers and the New Jersey Devils, apologized on Wednesday for disrupting a youth soccer match in a way only a billionaire can — he made the Under-13 squads postpone their planned Sunday night match after he had his private helicopter land on the field.
What a guy.
Harris added that he has taken measures to ensure this doesn’t happen in the future, and to make it up to the kids, coaches and their families, he invited everyone to attend an upcoming Devils game.
At least he didn't invite them to a Sixers game....that would've been the equivalent of "Let them eat cake."

ESPN: Sources: Jahlil Okafor to now be accompanied by security guard
I don't know why more professional teams don't do this, especially if the security guards double as drivers.

ESPN: Jerry Colangelo hire by 76ers follows pressure on NBA from owners
Since the summer of 2014, NBA owners have been lobbying the league's front office to step in with regard to the direction of the Philadelphia 76ers, sources told ESPN.com on Monday night. It was that effort that helped lead to the hiring of Jerry Colangelo to a senior position earlier Monday, the sources said.
NBA commissioner Adam Silver was instrumental in forming the partnership between Colangelo and 76ers owner Joshua Harris, according to the sources.
Just change the damn draft lottery rules and be done with it. They'll quit perpetually tanking when there is no longer an incentive to do so....and it will also stop some other team from trying it down the road too.

Well said. The 76ers have been stealing their fan money for too long now.
