Go Arsenal!

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

"Now OPS sucks.  Got it."

"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."

"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty

The more I think about it, the more I think LFC should have gotten the PK at the end. I mean Doku kicked him right in the chest.

Particularly frustrating after dominating City in the second half like I've never seen them before.

I watched that game live and have watched the replay of that no call a bunch of times. Its a really tough one to call IMO.

1. The defender got the ball first.

2. The defender kept his cleats face down.

3. The attacker was late to the play.

Now a lot of people are saying that had they play occurred any place else on the field that its a foul every time. And they are correct in that. But the problem is to award that foul in the box really needs to be more aggregious IMO. Its something I have complained about for years. There needs to be some other type of call inside the box that a ref can make for a foul that is not any dangerous goal scoring situation. This one is a great example. All the attacker can even hope to do there is have the ball bounce around in the box. No way he can control it let alone begin to have a shot or even a pass. So he should be awarded with a penalty?

I think the no call was correct.

What a terrific FA Cup match between Man U and Liverpool. Red Devils win 4-3 in extra time.

Huge day for top of the EPL table today.

Currently Liverpool and BHA are tied 1-1 in the first half.

But the monster game coming up soon on NBC. Man City hosting Arsenal.

Coming in to today all three big boys have played 28 matches.

Arsenal and Liverpool have 64 points while Man C is just behind at 63 points. Liverpool and Man C will have to win outright in the end barring a big change in goal differential. Arsenal is +7 ahead of Liverpool and +11 ahead of Man C.

So interesting stuff this weekend.

Title Chase:

Arsenal and Liverpool both win so sit in first with 74 points (but Arsenal ahead on goal differential by 8. Probably insurmountable if they end up tied).

Man C sits in second with 73 points but they have a game in hand. Advantage Man C.

Relegation Fight:

Everton knocked off Nottingham Forest but not without controversy. Prior to the match Everton officials requested the VAR official be changed as "he was a Luton Town fan."  No change was made. There were 3 potential PKs reviewed by VAR and none of them were awarded. One of them was clear as hell a PK. So Forest is livid and considering its options.

Forest sits one point in the safety zone at 26 points.

Luton Town sits at the cut line with 25 points.

Burnley is a full match from safety at 23 points.

Sheffield United is toast at 16 points. But they have a huge opportunity on May 4th when they play Forest. Spoiler role?

Looks like it's a two team race since Liverpool couldn't score against its rival who fights to stay above relegation year after year.

Doesn't look good for Luton Town. A loss today leaves them still a point behind Nottingham, and Forest has a game in hand and after Man City tomorrow a very easy slate. Was hoping Luton could stick, really loved their story and the old neighborhood stadium they play in.

Massive match coming up for the title chase. Tottenham hosting Arsenal. As I said in my final stretch article, Tottenham may hold the key to who wins the race being the only team to play all 3 contenders.

The Gunners held on for a 3-2 win at the Spurs.

Now Man C is away at Nott Forest. Forest needs points to ensure they stay above relegation and Man C needs 3 to keep pace with Arsenal.
