Apparently this Bears collapse is getting to everyone:
Sun-Times' Bears Headline: "Hedy Hey Hedy Hey Hedy"
Add in the "decky decky..." and it's kind of poetic.

Cutler benched for Jimmy Clausen.

Cutler's contract was all base salary (early portions guaranteed) and no bonus. So the Bears can trade him just $4M in dead money from a restructure bonus. His entire 2015 salary ($15.5M) is guaranteed, so if they cut him, they'll have to pay him that and count it against the cap, plus the $4M roster bonus, which would be $19.5M in dead money, and I don't know if they can spread the $15.5M 2015 salary into any subsequent years or not like they could if it was dead bonus money.
I can't see the Bears finding any takers for him in a trade unless they agree to pay a lot of his salary, effectively increasing the dead money they owe on him to something higher than the $4M cap hit they would owe in any trade but less than the $19.5M cap hit (and $15.5M in actual money paid to him) they'd owe if they just cut him. Less whatever the Bears chip in, a new team would be on the hook for his entire $15.5M 2015 salary and would be guaranteeing $10M of his $16M 2016 salary (assuming he's not immediately cut). If he plays both 2015 and 2016 with his new team, they'd then have to decide on a $10M roster bonus, which would be $2.5M in cap money in addition to $12.5M, $13.5M, $17.5M, and $19.2M salaries. I can't imagine a team being too happy about paying Cutler those rates for his age 34-37 seasons, but maybe if he has a major bounce back they might.
But if the Bears pay $6M of his 2015 salary and $4M of his 2016 guaranteed salary, then a new team would effectively be signing him to a deal that pays him $9.5M in 2015 and then either $12M to keep him for 2016 or $6M to cut him. I could see someone giving him a shot for that type of deal, and the Bears save $5.5M in actual cash and salary cap space.

I know the Bears have been playing rough, but you can't blame that entirely on Jay Cutler. I watched most of the Monday night game then their offensive line was just destroyed by New Orleans. Jay Cutler is still 100000x the QB Jimmy Clausen is.

So within the last month you saw:
RGIII benched for Colt McCoy
Brian Hoyer benched for Johnny Manziel
And now Cutler benched for Jimmy Freaking Clausen.
Wow.
I know the Hoyer/Manziel change isnt that crazy -- but the other two are batshit crazy.

Possible ligament damage in Cutler's right thumb.
Ouch.
Not that Cutler is any good, he's terrible, but the Bears are a dumpster fire right now.
0-16 is a possibility.
