IMO He was more of a humanist, a la Jerry Garcia, Warren Zevon, et al.
Parrotheads love to pretend they're like Deadheads, but with jobs, but the reality of the situation is they were both large groups of fans who enjoyed the escapist sensation of unity amongst the other 'heads'.

Gary Wright, lead singer of Spooky Tooth and the artist who released the classic LP that was about 10 years ahead of its time, "The Dreamweaver," passed away earlier today. he was 80.
Anecdotally, he played on a whole host of George Harrison's LPs back in the 70s, including keyboards, piano, electric piano and organ on his seminal "All Things Must Pass" album. He shared keyboard / piano duties with none other than Bobby Whitlock on that LP (triple album).
RIP, Dreamweaver. I hope you reach that astral plane.

Love is Alive is one of my all-time favorites.
That is a great tune.
I can remember watching people try dance to that song at a CYO dance in the 70's.
RIP

On a side note, my father in law is a big fan. My wife and him went to the Cardinals game the other night for Jimmy Buffet night. Cover band pre game, Jimmy Buffet Cards shirt giveaway. Jimmy passed away later that night. Strange.

Two in my local orbit. Both well known in local business development circles.
One a believed suicide, and the other a murder.
Both horrible and sad.
(I was business friendly with one, and an acquaintance at best with the other.... it's not my personal / direct loss. Just senseless.)
