Tim Wakefield

https://www.mlb.com/...ield-dies-at-57

I remember getting to move up to the front rows right behind the dugout after a rain delay when I was a kid.  Wakefield came in to pitch in relief, so got to watch him warm up for a while from really close.  Ball moves so much its insane.

Later on, when HDTV became available for the postseason games, it was amazing to see in high def slo-mo how the ball just doesn't spin at all.

RIP

Very good pitcher.

Probably one of the last true knuckball pitchers that We'll see in MLB.

Dick Butkus, 80.

Too young to remember him obviously, but when ESPN used to run a lot more classic stuff, I’ll never forget I always thought he was the meanest, toughest, hardest hitting guy I’d ever seen. He’d be broke from fines and suspended indefinitely if he played in todays game.

Wow, Matthew Perry, just 54.

He had substance abuse issues most of his adult life. His heart was likely much ‘older’ than his actual age.

Chandler Bing is one of the better characters developed for a TV sitcom, and he was easily the funniest on Friends.

Damn, hadn't seen that one.

The Dodgers' move into pitcher-friendly Dodger Stadium probably hastened Howard's departure from that club.

I did like Night Court as a kid...too bad he didn't get into the reboot before he passed.

#73 was a good right tackle on some good Colt teams.  RIP Sam.

I caught one of Howard's home run balls at Memorial Stadium.  I think he hit it off Mike Cuellar.  Besides Hondo he also had the nickname "Capital Punishment".  Howard was also a pretty good basketball player.  I think he played at Ohio State and got drafted by the Warriors when they were in Philly.

The lasting image I had of him was when he was playing first base, and Boog Powell was on after a single.  They were two huge men.
