Of course that was done after it was announced. Dwight also tweeted.

Are people really upset that a guy may have waffled some on one of the most important decisions of his life? Over the course of one day? Where he said nothing publicly?

I think the issue is, who allows their "waffling" to be played out so publicly. Recently, other than Dwight, that domain has been claimed by the aforementioned Brett Favre and politicians....all of whom have been publicly crucified (and rightly so) for it.

We're talking about one day here. Totally different and we don't even know how much he waffled. I really don't care if he did either. It's understandable.

Ultimately, you are correct there. So I will let that part of the discussion end. Am curious as to your thoughts on what I posted in the offseason thread about the 4-team trade involving Dwight last summer?

Welp.

Btw if you listened to the recent episode of "Message Board Wars" you could have already known this was coming. :-)

Yep, all because of the eeeeeeevil Twitter, it is completely impossible to make a simple and clear announcement of any sort these days.

It isn't the Twitter itself that is the problem, so much as the fact that people, because of Twitter, now expect to KNOW EVERYTHING RIGHT THIS VERY SECOND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Houston's a legit title contender now if they can get Dwight to play like he did in Orlando.

He needs that defense from the Orlando years to come back. He's in the absolute perfect situation in Houston though. Surrounded by 3 point shooters and another superstar. If he doesn't figure it out in Houston he might not ever.

I want to see what they get for Asik before I declare them much of a title contender.

As a Magic fan, I hate Dwight Howard with a passion. He loves to come in and act like he wants to be on the team, but if they don't win a title, he wants out. Howard never wants to put the work in to win anything, which is why he is unsuccessful at doing so, so far.

As for the Rockets, I don't think they'll be TOO much better than they were before this Dwight signing. They were the 8th seed last season, and I think they'll continue to be 6, 7, or 8. Dwight is injury prone and is inconsistent. The Rockets and their fans may think they are a championship-caliber team, but I disagree.

I tend to agree but they may go further because the West is not what it was a few years ago.  They put some shooters around him and Harden is a star so that should help.

I can see that.

The only thing is, the West still has:

  • The OKC Thunder
  • The San Antonio Spurs
  • The Golden State Warriors

Along with the new possible powerhouses like the Timerwolves, Nuggets, etc.

We'll just have to see how well Dwight fits in with the Rockets, and if he is willing to put the work in to win.

Even if they stay healthy, I can't put Minnesota or Denver in the potential "powerhouse" category. But I don't think the Rockets have moved above the Thunder or Spurs, and maybe not the Warriors or Clippers either.

I forgot about the Clips, but I understand that.

I don't think I meant to say powerhouses, but they are still both average teams, especially with the T'Wolves' additions AND if the Nuggets grab Nate Robinson, they could be a lot better.

I don't know, I just think that the Rockets will struggle in the West, even though there are many teams that have gotten older and lost some guys.

The Nuggets are trending downward.

If the Rockets get back a good piece or two for Asik, then they'll be a realistic contender if Dwight is healthy.

The Rockets signed Marcus Camby. That might pave the way for Asik to be traded.
