Agreed...Great size, good defense, can shoot and is very smart.

Not that athletic and his lack of quickness will hurt him but I think he can be a guy that sticks around for several years.

Yeah, seems to me like a guy that can give you 15-20 good minutes. Not sure how much he'd be able to create off the dribble, but spot up shooting and around the basket because of his size shouldn't be an issue.

Well maybe, but I doubt that. Johnson is so overrated and fell off quite a bit last year so that's the biggest difference between perception and reality.

Pierce and KG are still quite productive, but can definitely fall off quite a bit this coming year given their age. Even if they don't, they're basically 30 minute guys now so that will expose the Nets weak bench unless they can improve it going forward.

All that said, this isn't a bad go for it move by the Nets, who lost nothing of significance other than the picks, and losing Wallace and his contract is actually a good thing. If they catch a lot of breaks they could be a serious contender next year.

A big strategy this offseason will be teams putting themselves in position to get high picks for next years draft, which is loaded.

2013 NBA free agency 'isn't going to be like most offseasons'

Summary: Much like we saw in baseball a decade ago, a new generation of NBA GMs are valuing players differently.

He's gonna sign with the Rockets.  If he does, assuming health, Houston will join OKC, SA and the Clippers (assuming Paul resigns) as candidates to win the West.

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."

"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty

He should sign with them.

Rockets dealt Thomas Robinson, basically for free, to Portland today.

They are trying to deal Asik and Lin...want to free up cap space for Howard.

Who is going to give Josh Smith too much money?

Al Jefferson is quietly a good FA with upside.

Not sure there's a ton of upside left and his D is poor, but otherwise, yes, he can help a team who can use a post scorer.

Pistons are taking taking the first crack at Josh. He'll be an overpay with the possible exception of him going to a good team with a strong coach and leader so he can fall in line and play the way he should.

Hickson's rebounding could be important for a contender.

Would love to have him back in Portland, but backing up Aldridge instead of starting at C like last season. But I guess the trade for Robinson addresses the backup PF for the Blazers. Hopefully JJ will end up being a great asset for a contender next season.

Wow, do people really think that?

The Clippers being in the list of teams that can win the West. I bolded them in the quote but I guess it doesn't really stand out.

Sorry, I didn't notice that.

You don't think the Clippers can come out of the West? I can understand maybe not being THE favorite, but for much of the season they had close to the best record in the West. They probably wouldn't have been my first pick, but I think half way through last season, a lot of people would have said they were more (or just as) likely than the Spurs to be in the Finals.

Speaking of the Clips, they got solid role players in Reddick and Dudley for Bledsoe.

Kevin Martin went to the wolves for 28M over 4 years. No surprise of what I'm about to say: what a horrific trade that was for the Thunder. Presti should be embarrassed.
