Here is the post I'm referencing from earlier tonight. 

 

Yeah different, but not worse. It wasn't a hittable pitch, there was too much downward plane for anyone to get wood on it. Last year it was a little loopier but just as hard. I actually think I like this version more if he can keep that up.

Command more than stuff. Stuff is down a tick but not his biggest problem.

True....but he could get away with SOME of the command if the stuff was better.

He isn't missing bats.

And again, why is the command so off? It's still the same basic question. Something is leading to this...what is it?

Btw, Hammels velocity is down over 1 MPH(for the season) on most of his pitches according to pitchFX.

This season, compared to last season, he is clearly worse,,in command and stuff....why? That is the question.

I agree he needs to throw more 2s..but when he does, they aren't as good. That is pretty obvious. My eyes and the stats back that up.

Are you kidding me Davis. That guy has a shaky glove. Seriously, a good HS 1b fields that 9/10 times and I've seen Davis miss these multiple times already this year.

That was then and this is now. More recent is more relevant and I actually watched tonight. Tonight has been nothing like the rest of the season, so ignore previous starts for now and see what he does going forward.

JJ is probably going to pitch the 9th as well regardless of score. Hasn't thrown since Saturday.

This is one of those games Buck wants to secure. So, not going to give to even tempt letting one get away.  Hammel not pitchig deep meant the good BP guys were going to be used. Looks like we might save Matusz. Again, probably could save JJ but I think he'll bring him in to get work even if we maintain the 5 plus lead.
