Billingsley was just placed on the DL, and Stephen Fife from AAA Albuquerque will be making the start today in his place.

Over 13.2 IP this year in AAA - He's thrown to a 4.61 ERA (2.98 FIP). He also had a 9.22 K/9 and a 1.98 BB/9. He's been hurt by a .404 BABIP this year, hence the difference in his ERA and FIP.

Here is some very limited Pitch FX data on Fife, from his brief stint in LA last season:

I can't find any data on Fife appearing on any top prospects lists. He appears to be AAAA/Spot start depth for the Dodgers, and not a real, touted prospect.

For any out-of-towners, the game is on TBS.

Mattingly seems like a great guy. That segment with Buck and Mattingly on O's Extra was chock-full of awesome.

Dempsey, "I've interviewed for the O's Manager job 4 times... the last time Buck beat me out, and I'm glad he did."

That was pretty neat to hear him say that. You can tell how much he admires the job he's done and continues to do.

Good thing these greedy capitalist pricks don't give me the option, despite my $135/month DirecTV bill, to choose which broadcast I watch. Heaven forbid MASN loses a few cents in advertising dollars because I switch back and forth between the TBS and MASN broadcasts. No, don't give the paying customer the choice, make the choice for them. It's such bullshit. I have a serious disdain for the black out policies.

Oh, and MLB, which is hurting for money greatly, won't let me watch broadcasts in the market, even though I have a location spoofer. They took the extra step to also verify IP address location. Good stuff. The $150 I paid this year for MLB.TV obviously wasn't enough to allow me to have the choice to watch on an iPad while grilling in my back yard.

If the 1st pitch is any indication, this is going to be a wide strike zone today.
