Apparently there was other baseball news today. Less fun, but a hell of a lot more important.
Good for her. I hope she does well and I hope they give her a chance to do significant stuff.

Wow, he's got "recently adopted identical twin girls who were born prematurely" at home.
I just feel like in the current state that we are right now and these babies being as fragile as they are for the next four months, at minimum, this ultimately wasn't that difficult a decision for me
Good for him, for multiple reasons.

I have one of his 1st bowman chrome short prints (baseball card nerdry lol) into BGS for grading.
Here's hoping for a great rookie season!

Buster Posey to retire. Interesting HOF case, I didn't realize his overall stats were fairly modest, mainly due to only 10 full years with even some of those short. He's a catcher though. On its face he seems better than Thurman Munson (out), worse than Roy Campanella (in). By fWAR he kills both (57 to 40ish) and by bWAR it's Munson-Posey-Campanella but it's close. Of course both of the others' careers were cut short by tragic accidents, and Campanella's MLB career was shorter still due to segregation while he was one of the best players in the Negro League.
ETA: I should have added my opinion. Maybe he'll get in and if so I'm good with that. Short career relatively, but very good during it, and 3 rings is something they like. I'd probably prefer Mauer as being similar hitting with more longevity, but 129 OPS+ and good defense as a mostly catcher is really nice. Other than Piazza and Gene Tenace best OPS+ of any catcher who retired since 1950.

I think he gets in easily as well. Very easy to forgive catchers for lack of longevity, IMO. Especially given the gruesome injury that he had.
Fangraphs has him 8th all time in WAR among catchers.
