1) Standard 5x5
2) 12 teams w/ 30 roster spots
3) 260 point cap
4) Contracts are 3 years long when you purchase a guy at auction
My buddy just offered me Andrew McCutchen (29 points for 2013 and 2014) for Allen Craig (1 point for 2013 and 2014), Rickie Weeks (7 points for 2013 and 2014), and JJ Putz (7 points for 2013 and 2014).
I've got a fair deal of salary after I drop some dead weight and I think he is trying to free some up so he can keep Miguel Cabrera who I would like to pursue at auction. Thoughts? Is it worth giving up super-cheap Allen Craig and reasonably priced Weeks and Putz for a market rate Andrew McCutchen?

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

To me you only seriously consider a deal if you are worried about cap space or you are overwhelmed by an offer.

Craig is not a prospect, he's a guy that had a decent year last year, but far from anything spectacular, and FAR from a lock to repeat or get better. It's not like he's 22 and there are signs of more to come.
Just saying, if you were looking to deal Cutch, could you do better than the spare parts you are about to give up? Yes...yes you could. This is a salary dump, period. Take him, and if you want flip him midseason for a couple legit cheap prospects if you are worried about money. I bet you could get Shelby Miller, Castellanos, etc. who should all be up this year.
