Thousands went to the send-off today. In San Fran, a few dozen went.

Preston brings up some good points about all the Lewis hoopla.

I get what he's saying, but I don't agree with it. Kneeling down, overwhelmed with emotion, because you get to play one more game isn't going too far. The cameras don't have to gravitate towards him, he's not forcing them to. I 100% believe that all of the emotion the past few weeks is genuine and therefore I have no problem with it. And of course Ray Lewis loves him some Ray Lewis... how else do you have such an amazing career? He helps the team with all of this more than he hurts it.http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/bs-sp-preston-ravens-super-bowl-0129-20130128,0,3337578.column

The other side to him getting a lot of the attention this week, is that it will help to take off some of the pressure from the younger guys who have never been in this game before. Do you think Joe really wants all the cameras on him?

Interesting article from Thyrl here. Not sure I agree with the premise, but I hope he is right. To me, with Staley, Iupati, and Davis blocking up-front (plus an apparently improving Boone), I think their offense is also physical.
Half of the teams in the league don't even have a FB, but the Niners have Bruce Miller (a former CUSA Defensive POY).
I saw Crabtree, and Davis both doing a lot of down-field blocking vs. Atlanta.
As I write this Anthony Munoz is being interviewed on ESPN, stating the Niners line is talented, but has pass blocking limitations. Something we pointed out previously with the relatively high amount of sacks they allowed this year.
It would be great if Thyrl has this right though. If the physicality of the Ravens defense takes SF out of their game, that would be huge.

Not surprisingly, with this Oline and Caldwell, we have seen a big improvement in these stats.

Very solid article there.http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/21619730/after-further-review-ravens-must-use-zone-stack-box-vs-kaepernick
The zone coverage is key IMO.

Yeah the zone coverage will be important, I also feel like mixing up the looks will be big too as that can hopefully confuse Kaepernick a bit.

Billick on Mike and Mike talking about the importance of the intermediate routes for each offense because of the worry about the running games.

As I said, my biggest worry is their Oline vs our dline and them being able to dominate us up front.
Also, I look for SF to come out throwing to set up the run. Try something different.

What about Prisco's thought there about stacking the box? I'm picturing Crabree, Davis, and Moss getting a lot of single coverage down the field.

Davis is the guy I worry the most about. What about Prisco's thought there about stacking the box? I'm picturing Crabree, Davis, and Moss getting a lot of single coverage down the field.
Luckily, outside of the last game, Kaepernick hasn't used him a lot.
I think both teams would like to stop the run with 6 or 7 guys, so you don't have too much single coverage but you have to give up something.
We haven't talked a lot about the Ravens running game..most of the focus has been on the 49ers run game. But the Ravens need to be able to be effective. Effective doesn't mean gashing them left and right...but being able to get 3-4 yards per carry.
Would also like to see us use play action to freeze their LBers some, since they are so good.
