I would think that in addition to reversing the suspension, they would also want to prove Braun's innocence. They haven't put forward any legit reasons/excuses for the failed test. They haven't questioned or addressed the fact that synthetic testosterone was in Braun's urine.

I would argue that is a job for Braun's PR people, not his attorneys.

Braun said what he had too in that on-the-field presser, you are either going to believe him or not (or in my case, not sure). That's really all he can do, you can't retake the test from October at this point.

Many other baseball players have claimed what Braun did in that the test results were invalid, Braun's just has more name recognition than these guys and this definitely helped him.

Sure. I'm referring to Braun's camp as a whole.

I saw an article somewhere where it said 80-90 % of the players disagreed with the Braun decision. I found that interesting.

I have not seen the article but I am guessing the writer used a very small sample size to derive that figure.

Well I hear Linda Ronstadt is looking for a guitar player.

This is one of those classic, the truth lies somewhere in the middle. Most players *publicly* cheered but many behind the scenes didn't like it, because of course they think he is a cheater who got away with it. And I believe a certain amount of jealousy being that many lesser players know that because he was the MVP he was given the benefit of the doubt, which they would not have been afforded.

Basically I doubt all those players who said they were "happy" were, I doubt it's 80-90% either.

Still a capable rotation with Gallardo, Greinke, Wolf, Marcum, etc.

Since he was ejected after five pitches yesterday, he came back and started today. He is also scheduled to start Friday, the Brewers first game after the All-Star break. Will be the first pitcher since 1917 to start 3 straight games for his team.

Considering how the first two have gone...he might want to skip attempt #3.

Well I hear Linda Ronstadt is looking for a guitar player.

Like Philadelphia, the Brewers have gotten back to .500 at 71-71, and are just 4 games out of the 2nd Wild Card.

Pretty amazing, you gotta wonder if they got better because of the trades? Addition by subtraction? Not saying it's right, but who knows if these teams would be in contention right now if they kept their pieces together.

Rickie Weeks is having a horrible year...

199 ab's, 8 doubles, 1 triple, 5 hr's, 13 rbi, 27 bb's, 64 k's, .211 baa, .648 OPS

Came into this year with 70 homers over his last 3 years.

2/16/2011: Signed a four-year, $38.5 million contract with a vesting option for 2015. The option can be voided if Weeks doesn't register 600 plate appearances in 2014 or 1,200 combined plate appearances from 2013-2014.

He's hit a lot better since they called up that other 2B and said they were going to a platoon. He's hitting .417/.500/.750 in June although most of his at bats have been vs lefties.

ESPN: Brewers offering August vouchers

http://espn.go.com/m...rs-august-games

Although it is close to the roughly $3 million the team won't have to pay Braun, Schlesinger said that wasn't the intention.

"This is an investment in our fans and an investment in our brand, to do what we can do to mitigate a trying summer," said Schlesinger, noting that this is the first initiative under the team's Fans First campaign.

I think it's a little too coincidental the expected cost and Braun's salary, but good for the Brewers.

Is Lucroy an elite catcher?

2012 - .320/.368/.513 12hr, 17 doubles, 4 triples, 133 OPS+, .378 wOBA, 3.6 bWAR, 3.7 fWAR in 346 PA

2013 - .286/.336/.506, 16 HR, 17 doubles, 4 triples, 127 OPS+, .360 wOBA, 2.3 bWAR, 3.1 fWAR in 363 PA

He leads all catchers in ISO this season, 5th in wOBA, and seems to be alright defensively.

ESPN: Ryan Braun sued by longtime friend

http://espn.go.com/m...ge-doping-fraud

Ralph Sasson, 29, makes a number of personal accusations against Braun, saying in the lawsuit that Braun doped through his years at the University of Miami, committed academic fraud and accepted money while a student.

"This lawsuit is an unfortunate attempt to capitalize on Ryan's recent press attention for taking responsibility for his actions. The factual allegations and the legal claims have absolutely no merit. We believe the lawsuit will be dismissed," he said in a statement.

I like how they try to make him this honorable guy.
