Never too early to start the Draft watch.

Pipeline recently posted their top 100 draft picks headlined by Jackson's brother Ethan. Washington has the 1-1 pick.

Pipeline also posted their first Mock draft HERE.

Things can change are now final(ish), and the Orioles are in line for 5 picks on Day 1.  They'll pick 1-19 and then Comp picks for Burnes and Santander at 1-30 and 1-31.  2nd round should be 2-59 and they have their Comp B pick at 2-71

...so 5 of top 71 picks.  Complete Draft Order

I'll go way out on a limb and predict a college position player.

Things can change, but the Orioles are in line (today) for 5 picks on Day 1. They'll pick 1-21 and then Comp picks for Burnes and Santander currently slotted at 1-30 and 1-31. 2nd round should be 2-58* and they have their Comp B pick currently slotted at 2-71*
...so 5 of top 71* picks. Complete Draft Order
(*+3 for comp FAs)

Looks like we draft 19th, not 21st. At least according to the mlb.com draft order link and mock draft.

How are we getting basic information wrong. For someone who thinks he has all the answers he sure gets a lot wrong.

ESPN: How junior college ruling could impact baseball, MLB draft

https://www.espn.com...-draft-shake-up

Seems like this is irrelevant to MLB.  Certainly could have some impact at the level of college programs that have older, 4-5-6 year type players that contribute to their College WS Championships.  Anyone that is ready to get paid by MLB (HS, JUCO or any college) can decide if they want to start their pro time.

A current 'fringe' program could certainly level the playing field with Major programs through NIL and keeping experienced, quality guys racking up their education and playing competitive ball over more years. Again, not sure the article example has any real impact on MLB.

With Santander reports of an agreement with Toronto, that locks in the early draft order.

Orioles pick 1-19, 1-30, 1-31, 2-59 and 2-71 (compB).

Much better and deeper draft class this year than last. Should have another high pick with Cowser ROY but still will be a good opportunity to reload the system a bit.

Essentially 3 first round picks and a late 2 and early 3rd.

A lot of the quality depth from the 2023 draft has already been traded - Horvath, Baumeister, and Etzel. I really like what they did in 24 with Honeycutt, O'Ferral, Anderson, Overn, Layton, etc. I anticipate another big 2025 draft to replenish the system further.

And none of those picks will be a pitcher.

That could be but I’m going to say Elias surprises me with a pitcher among his first 5 picks.

Elias took Baumeister 63rd and Lord 86th in 2023.

Elias didn't take a pitcher (Allsup) until 127th (4th round) in 2024.

I'll predict at least 1 pitcher among the top 5 picks in 2025.

With hit tool issues.

But elite speed and defense. And some power.

Yeah, they did a great job with Westburg.  So far that seems to be the exception.  Not that they haven't hit with some other guys obviously, I'm talking specifically about guys that had a questionable hit tool that they seem to think they can fix.  The list of failures is a lot longer than the list of successes.  Which isn't entirely surprising, but still, I'm just surprised they keep taking those types of guys.

Lets cool the jets a bit here. Thet traded Ortiz who looks like he is probably gonna be a reg. TBD on Norby but hes made it to the bigs. Fabian is probably a 4th OFer. Beavers just made it to AAA and has been solid doing it. Horvath still has potential albeit it in the Rays org
