Well, it certainly sucked for those who were season ticket holders and took advantage of the discount.

I don't think removing the discount will have any part in whether the team significantly raises payroll or not.

Yeah, the new group is going to continue the tradition of bleeding the fans dry regardless of payroll spending.

That's an excellent article.  Lots of good/interesting info, but wanted to pull this out for anyone not reading it...

“I’ve written some big checks for Carlyle over the years, so we’ve put alot of money into deals and it’s not like I’m going to have a shock at the size of the dollars that might be involved,” he said. “The trick is getting the opportunity to do that.”

You still have to have the opportunity to spend.  The goal isn't to spend, the goal is to have/leverage the resources when you need them to do whatever it is you think you need to (or can = opportunity) do.

Don't really understand why people think there's going to be wild spending this offseason....on what?  It's not about accumulation of Talent, you can always do that.  It's about getting the most out of the group and that's not about spending.  That's what Elias has to do. He likely needs to change some of the names to get to a roster that allows the next iteration of Leadership to consume the space.  We'll see if it works.  We moved away from what did work, make space for the next group...not what we did in 2024.

The simplest offseason, probably the "B" version of the offseason, likely sees little movement in payroll.

If they want to get creative and burn some money to get to whatever (more of an "A" offseason feel), you can probably do that, but don't think Elias is (has proven to be) that guy.

The roster is currently full (every position except maybe b/u C) so anything you do is more active management, but pretty easy to do nothing.  I think doing nothing is a mistake, and they can build the better roster and the payroll could actually go down.

They can get away with what they have in house on the position side and probably the bullpen (not necessarily my preference but those groups are at least ok), but they need a starter. I don't think anyone should be ok with Kremer/Suarez/Povich/Rogers as the 3-6, with Grayson being questionable health wise. They aren't going to give Burnes what he wants but even the Kyle Gibsons of the world cost 10M+. And they'll probably add something more, maybe a 5M BP guy or a 4M backup OF or something. No, I haven't really looked at the FA class so I have no opinion on who. But getting to 120M doesn't seem far fetched at all, pretty doubtful payroll goes down. They'd have to dump both Cedric and Mounty, decline Soto and Dominguez...I can see maybe 1-2 of that but not all, then you have to replace those guys.
