The offensive downturn obviously didnt help but poor streaks happen. You win enough games during these downswings by playing clean and smart baseball.

Not only did the offense take a nosedive, but they were often not smart or playing clean baseball. And still pulled off 91 wins.

They werent particularly clean in 2023 either but they were better than last year. Also, a small thing that goes with that is the baserunning. Last year we got caught up in the 2012-2016 mentality of waiting for the HR. 2023 we were hit and running more. We were more aggressive taking extra bases. Little things on a baseball field that dude cant comprehend. Finally, you have the BP which was pretty meh last year. Dont know what we get from Felix but hopefully we get back to being an upper end BP. Everyone seems to be worried about the SP but if the BP improves and the position players get back to playing harder and smarter we will be in a great spot.

Yeah, after June (I think they hit a team record HR total that month), they really settled into a swinging for the fences mentality. Hopefully that'll change with some new voices.

I expect pretty big improvement from guys like Adley, Jackson, and Mayo. Also continued improvement from guys like Gunnar, Westburg, Cowser, Kjerstad.

They limped their way to the finish line last year and still won 91 games. I expect better this year.

I think the Orioles plan from Day 1 of the Elias regime is to get their improvement from within.  I think they are counting on production from Holliday, Kjerstad, Mayo, and eventually Big Sam  to compliment continued growth from Westburg, Cowser, Gunnar and Adley.  I think that is a solid plan.  My concern is they do not have anywhere near the prospects on the pitching side.

That said, I will take the over on the win projections.  I think this team lands somewhere around 92-94.

I think it is fair to place some of the blame on the homer happy approach on the organization and by that I mean both coaching and front office.  The launch angle approach is organizational.

Yeah I mean I don't think the org is planning to give up on trading K's for power anytime soon based on Tyler O'Neill's profile

Nor should they. But professional hitters can walk and chew gum. Seeing regression on plate discipline from certain guys was off putting. Not being able to execute situational baseball. Stuff like that. Yes, the launch angle/power stuff is the right approach. The analytics point to it. But it shouldn’t come at the expense of fundamentals. It did last year, I felt.

Dude is the roadrunner and 25 is Wile E Coyote, who can never catch him, and gets blown up a lot in the process.

O's sign Dylan Carlson to a 1-year contract.  Third in NL ROY voting in 2021, and it's all been downhill from there.

His Baseball Savant page doesn't even have enough PAs for the percentiles but his chase rate looks like it'd be around 75th percentile if he had enough PAs so seems like a flier on having a good eye

Was a consensus top 20 prospect at one point. Only 26. Dont mind taking the flier here. 975 K. Os showed with Kemp last year they dont mind dumping 1 mil very early if needed.

Looks like he's hit LHP pretty well, and is a switch-hitter who's played some CF.  Seems like he'd be worth a flier.
