SP are finicky as hell. The self-own by the grounds crew to start the game was something to behold though.

It points out a failure of both the actionable (the cleat cleaner not being installed on the mound), as well as the review process that would verify its installation (this is probably a checklist). More than one person got caught with their pants down there.
Yeah, you want to expect more from your billion dollar pitcher, but these guys are weird about their pre-game stuff.

I really have a strong dislike for the “opener” concept. It’s a joke when a starting pitcher is pulled after facing only three batters - especially when he struck out two of them. I will also admit to having a strong dislike of Cora. Serves him right to have that blow up in his face. (ETA…Of course, it works out that it didn’t blow up in his face.)
