Don't come back and this is on Hyde. Stuck too long with Burnes and gave the ball to Kimbrel. Oh but the analytics.....blah blah blah

I've no idea how that start-stop-start windup of Jansen isn't a balk every single time he releases the ball.

What a shitty loss…the offense was pretty FIRE tonight.

Couple thoughts on that - Suarez would've been in the game but he's no longer that guy cuz he has to be in the rotation.

My other thought - I want to know if Holliday was told to stay put when Devers faked a stolen base attempt, cuz Connor Wong was up there swinging towards the right side of the infield to get that 5th run home. That was executed to perfection. The fact Yoshida hit a three run jack on the next swing is a cherry on top of that.

I’m sorry but this stretch has little to do with adversity and everything to do with pissing down your legs.

They're just an average team currently, just like everyone else in the league. Their offense is certainly above average. The SP ain't much after Burnes and Eflin. Rodriguez has to come back to give us a fighting chance. The BP, as we all know, is iffy at best.

Houston might scare me more than any AL team just because they've been there, done that.

We're in a stretch of 13 straight games and sometimes you have let your ace try and pitch through his struggles. The bigger concern should be why Burnes has struggled mightily of late.

Kimbrel has to be used at some point. As I said last night, I'd have preferred pitching him rather than Cano in the first game, particularly with Burnes going in game two. You'd have figured the higher-leverage guys would have been needed tonight, but that wasn't the case. This has been the pattern with Kimbrel the past two years: a couple of awful stretches but very good the rest of the time. The only way to see if he can snap out if it is to let him pitch. It didn't work out, plain and simple.

Wins in Spite of Hyde - 72

Losses Due to Hyde - 51

The fact Kimbrel needs to be used tells you how reckless Elias has been with the staff. Yes, Kimbrel can catch lightning in a bottle, but it's more likely that he will labor through an inning to reach a (for better or worse) conclusion. So long as he's there I'll root for him, but literally nobody was surprised he crapped the bed again tonight.

The whole "he hasn't been used much at all, so what can you expect?" angle doesn't wash with me either. These guys are throwing everyday. The coaching staff are setting milestones for achievements, etc...And Kimbrel crapped the bed yet again. This wasn't some guy being dusted off to pitch. This is a guy who was trying his stuff and it just didn't add up.

This has been more than just a stretch.

After a scoreless outing on July 7, his ERA was 2.10

He's been scored on in 6 of 10 games since then, and the ERA is 3.88.

The O's problem is he's their closer. You don't typically DFA closers, cuz they should find a lower spot in the BP. Except Kimbrel hasn't successfully closed a game since early July. He IS toast, and the next-man-up is doing-it-with-mirrors.

Brutal loss. Burnes needs to get his s**t together. He has been horrible at the worst time. You cant lose scoring 10 runs when he is on the mound.

The only saving grace is that the Orioles battled.

Kimbrel giving up two homers turned out to be a killer. I can see the urge to DFA him, however, it would be a panic move at this point.

He's already lost the closer's job to Dominguez.

He'll lose his spot as a higher leverage arm when Webb comes back. Baker will be optioned and Kimbrel will have even a lesser role in the bullpen.

Anytime you score 10 runs and lose, that's horrible.  Harder to accept than losing 1-0.  All the things wrong with this team are why they can't string wins together.  They can score in bunches, or they can look completely helpless at the plate.  The pitching can dominate one night and get hammered the next.  Just no consistency in any aspect of their game.  As far as Burnes goes, there was no way he was going to go through a full season and not get lit up at least a few times.  Happens to the best of them and I'm not worried about it.  With Povich and Rodgers going this weekend, all you can do is hope for a split.  The maddening .500 baseball continues on.

Maybe there was some Freaky Friday type stuff happening, and Burns and Rogers switched bodies. Sunday's game is gonna be sweet.

Good news! I saw a dog today.

They scored 10 and still left a lot of runs out on the bases.

Still, the pitching was awful. Kimbrel needs to go unfortunately.

Looking back I think I posted that Kimbrel needs to go like 3 times last night. He's killing this team right now and no way could they ever have confidence to let him close again.
