We're not even out of the first month of the season and I'm already sick to death of hearing about the exit velocity of every hit. Redundant and irritating.
Its wildly useful information though, unlike nonsense situational splits and other factoids we used to (and still do) get. How hard you hit the ball is directly related to how often you get a hit. Its more important than velocity of pitches. It'll never go away, so get used to it. Probably will just get more detailed and they'll start correlating with launch angle and direction to come up with a quality measurement of basically every batted ball. That'd be a great way to start thinking of the game. Still a place for doing certain situational things, not every at bat needs to have the goal of doing as much damage as possible, but the vast majority of PAs fit that bill.
