We're not even out of the first month of the season and I'm already sick to death of hearing about the exit velocity of every hit.  Redundant and irritating.

Its wildly useful information though, unlike nonsense situational splits and other factoids we used to (and still do) get.  How hard you hit the ball is directly related to how often you get a hit.  Its more important than velocity of pitches.  It'll never go away, so get used to it.  Probably will just get more detailed and they'll start correlating with launch angle and direction to come up with a quality measurement of basically every batted ball.  That'd be a great way to start thinking of the game.  Still a place for doing certain situational things, not every at bat needs to have the goal of doing as much damage as possible, but the vast majority of PAs fit that bill.

Quick hook for Irvin there. He was pitching well that inning.... might have given him one more batter.

Absolutley not. No way. Youre crazy

This seems incongruous with a lot of earlier posts about Irvin.

Jeffers is their hottest hitter.

Irvin was throwing well here in the 5th. I probably give him Jeffers to try and get 5 and a chance at the W.

Could care less about it.    It's almost ironic if you think about it since kids today are basically illiterate in Math and yet baseball becomes increasingly more complex with each passing year.  And you can add launch angle to another pointless statistic.

Bring up Povich. Irvin is a joke.

I think Irvin seemed irritated by the hook.

Too bad.

Pitch better next time.

Feel free to ignore the mechanics of the game and just enjoy the beauty, that's fine, too.

What are we doing crapping on exit velo. Like what are we doing. Hit the freaking ball hard. Direct correlation to harder the ball is hit to increased BA and yet it annoys people to know how hard the balls are hit. Baffling

Crazy that Gunnar consistently hits the ball so hard yet really doesn't correlate with his average.

Yeah. He looked terrible early. Thought he was starting to look better as the game went on.

98 at the bottom of the zone is tough.

Same thing has been said about Mountcastle for years. Some of it really is bad luck but obviously if you K at an above avg rate its gonna bring down the BA

There have been a few duds but the offense has been raking for the most part this season.  On pace for close to 900 runs.

This is also why I dont expect Cowser to be a high BA guy even with good velo numbers. Will K too much. Hopefully his BB rate will be close to where it was in the minora so his OBP is still solid

I was hesitant on Westburg last year. Only 3 HR in 208 ABs, didn't seem like the power he showed in the minors was going to translate.

Maybe he can be more than JAG.
