Another team heading for the Tank. We should, keep track of time in the tank.
Maybe they will, but why do they have to head for the tank?
They won 93 games last year and made the playoffs (ahead of the Yankees and Astros).
They had terrible offense from C, LF, RF, CF, their DH under-performed his expectation (I like the Franimal) and Lindor only had a .750 OPS.
They have some of the best starting pitching in MLB, they have some ready players on the farm and there's zero reasons they can't trade Lindor and be a better team next year, even if they use nothing of the return.
Again, the community tells you to use a single model for what 'good' looks like and anything that doesn't follow that narrative is bad.
Cleveland can be better in 2021 without Lindor.....and I'm not saying losing him is good (I'm a fan, he would have been my second best option although I think it would have been difficult for the Orioles to land him, impossible now)....I'm saying the Team isn't about the guys you lose, it's about the guys you take into the season and then how they play on the field.
They may intentionally go backwards....no real reason to, unless they just want the break.
