I really like their pitching, especially their bullpen, but I can't see them getting over the hump until they get more consistent hitting. I fear nobody in that lineup other than Cabrera, Santana, and Hafner (if he's actually healthy, and that's a huge if). Even if Shin-Soo Choo rebounds (which I definitely think he will), unless guys like Brantley, Carrera, Laporta, or Chisenhall/Hannahan can emerge as legitimate hitting threats, I can't see them as anything more than the second wild card team.

With their win over Detroit tonight, Cleveland is 24-18.

Going into today, they ranked:

12th runs
19th batting average
4th on-base %
18th slugging %
20th era
8th quality starts
22nd whip
14th batting average against

A. Cabrera is having a big year, 13 doubles, 6 homers, .907 OPS

Jimenez and Masterson both have an ERA over 5, and have allowed a ton of walks.

Sounds like they are getting on base and their starters are going a decent number of innings. But there's something missing, because teams with those kinds of numbers aren't usually 24-18.

Are they getting lucky? Hitting especially well with RISP or limiting hitters to an especially low OPS with RISP?

Seems like a very different team than the one I saw a game of when they won 3 out of 4 against the O's.

I actually think Belle could be a good manager. We know he is a smart guy.

Francona all but said so on Baseball Tonite, last night. Looks like Bobby V to will be going back to ESPN.

Solid move by the Indians IMO. Think this will be a good fit for both sides and good on having a long-term vision.

MLB Trade Rumors: Indians sign Takuya Tscuhida

http://www.mlbtrader...a-tsuchida.html

Slightly disappointed the Orioles didn't pursue this guy. Especially considering their lack of impact position players. This guy should be fun to keep track of.
