Burnes won't be here next year regardless of what transpired this postseason.

Pay him the most and he'll sit anywhere. Nobody hires Boras to take the 2nd biggest offer. It's why he won't be back next year. Who wants to pitch like that just to lose.
I'd be top bidder for him. August scared me but he bounced back. Understand the concern about the lower K numbers, but I think he can still be wildly successful.

Corbin Burnes can screw off as well. You don’t get to just decide to turn it in later Sept.

Other than August he was just as advertised. Him and Eflin are the only two that don't have to f off as far as I'm concerned.

He will strike a lot of Orioles out next year in Pinstripes
There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note
"Now OPS sucks. Got it."
"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."
"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty

Im here in some ways. I didnt like how he handled multiple things this year but generally he performed and ultimately did what he was brought in to do in the postseason. I genuinely dont want to pay him big money on a long deal. 3 years on a huge AAV is fine but please no 280 mil deal

His contract goal is 10/330.
It won't be the Orioles and that's fine.

I don't think he has any hope of getting that much. If he backloads and defers, sure, but then it isn't that much. He'll get closer to Nola than Cole. I'm paying it.
We'll see what the O's do. It's a long shot, but new ownership may be willing to do things that old ownership wouldn't. Elias might not accept the long-term risk even if Rubenstein approves it, so not just the ownership unknown.

I feel like he's much better than that Rodon Nola type tier, but maybe the market isn't there these days I don't know. The Boras clients last winter made me have no clue on what's going to happen really.
Spotrac predicted 7/215M. Again, feels low, if it was around there I'd certainly think about it even though there are minor red flags, I like that a lot better than what Rodon got for example. No idea if they have any history of these predictions being worthwhile whatsoever.

Nola got $172M, Cole got $324M. Midway would be about $250M so guess I'm just saying I expect under that, though close to it. 6 @ $35-40M. 7 at a little less. Something like that.

Fair enough. I guess no pitcher has gotten even 250M besides Cole (Yamamoto not really a same comparison as he's so young, and obviously Ohtani is a different kind of unicorn). So even that would be something. I guess it depends on the bidding, problem is most probably consider him the top SP on the market (who else? Fried and Snell have their own red flags). I don't think I'm any good at predictions so I'll just wait and see.

I'll be shocked if the Orioles even make an offer.

Yes. Not sure what the QO would be for Burnes, but I don't see it happening.

QO is 1 year, expected to be 21.2M. They will certainly do that because there is a 100% chance he will turn it down and they will get a pick. They probably do that for Santander too for the same reason.

They'll definitely give him a QO, and he'll definitely turn it down.

Oh wow, I didn't think it would be that low. Ok then yeah they'll offer that and call it a day.
