The Athletic: Lamar Jackson challenging Troy Aikman's attempt to trademark shared No. 8

This ought to add a little spice on top of the Ravens' two MNF broadcasts this season.

Never thought about that, but good point.  "Lamar held that ball a little too long and ended up only getting back to the line of scrimmage.  If he threw it a second earlier he might have hit Flowers for a TD.  Sometimes he tries to do too much and ends up getting in trouble."  Sounds like an Aikman analysis.

Have to agree with that analysis.  Lamar takes a lot of needless sacks because of being in the pocket too long.  If he's hell bent on not running as much, just throw the damn ball away.  Since he's coming in lighter this year, maybe he's realized that he's the most dangerous when breaking free of pressure and heading downfield.  Maybe he's finally given up on his "be the next Tom Brady" dream.  I hope so.

Lamar was sent home today with an unspecified illness.  Apparently, pretty sick.

For an all-world superior athlete, that dude has the worst immune system I've ever seen of an adult.

I believe he has young children. Babies and Toddlers under 3 are basically walking/crawling petri dishes of bacteria and viruses.

Is he married?

Was just curious. No moral posturing.

He seems incredibly private about his life away from football. My recollection is everyone was shocked that he even had a daughter when he tweeted about her when she was like 6 months old or something.

I believe he's been with the same woman for a long time. Not sure if he's married or not. Not that it matters. He has a young daughter, if she's in any sort of daycare, she's sick every other week. First year of daycare is basically dealing with a different kind of virus at least once a month.

Arthur Maulet had his third INT in as many practices today, making a leaping grab of a Josh Johnson pass intended for Nelson Agholor. Rashod Bateman had two big gains early in practice. Devontez Walker got in the act today with a deep reception from Emory Jones.

Maulet was very solid last year. Glad to have him back. Always need solid secondary depth.

Ravens CB Marlon Humphrey is leaner and opting for new approach after injury-plagued 2023. Observations from Day 3 of camp as Lamar Jackson remained sidelined, Daniel Faalele is getting his shot at guard and Odafe Oweh got a friendly reminder.

At one point of practice today, Ravens HC John Harbaugh had a brief chat with OLB Odafe Oweh to "pull the reins on him a little bit." Oweh has been very disruptive this week and made it tough on the offense. "He's pretty much been in the backfield on every play," Harbaugh said.

Harbaugh said he likes what he's seen out of Daniel Faalele at guard and they wanted to give Patrick Mekari the reps at RT early in camp, but he conceded that Mekari will move around.

I was reading yesterday that Andrew Vorhees is looking good.  Moving well with high end technique and power.  The guy was a top shelf lineman in college before he got hurt.  If he can stay healthy, I think the Ravens got a steal with him and could very well be on the OL to start the season.

Vorhees would have been a definite 2nd rounder, possibly could have snuck his way into the end of the first, if not for the injury. Guy was a monster in college. Loved the pick, especially where they got him.

I know nothing about him, but this is by far the highest draft profile I've heard anyone project for him had he not gotten hurt.  I've repeatedly heard late Day 2, early Day 3 for him without the injury.

I always remember hearing projected 3rd rounder. I suppose things can change because of and after the combine and he didn't get that chance.

Just hope the OL can be solid. Didnt particularly like reading what Stoner posted earlier about Oweh being so consistently disruptive. Hopefully he has improved a good bit but it made me worry about the guys on the OL than it did feel encouraged about him.
